Unrequited Love
Our love is effervescent
ultraviolet against the raging moon
with delicate streamers of light
it’s subtle rays illuminate the darkness
She says to me,
"I am defenseless against my need to resist,"
"my need to abandon my inflicted soul.."
My arms hold her tight.
Our eyes weary from the storm
the everlasting search
for that one to lead us to the light
where there is none.
And she says,
"For that one that leaves no doubt in my mind"
that love begins and ends in their eyes."
My hands caress her gently.
Our two forgotten souls are one
sands no longer shifting their rhythm of time
stealing seconds from our days
as the clouds run away with the rain
A balance struck within us
the beating of our two lonely hearts
yet the cold darkness flowing between
eager to consume the love where there was none
Where once an aching need to be fulfilled
we hunger no more.
We survive the tragedy one day at a time
struggling coldly within.
Flesh and blood can end no more
the absence of our love
the only devastation we could ever know
living in stolen moments
We can never really be complete.......
