Hello! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. We had a nice time in Houston with my folks. I felt a little guilty sitting around doing absolutely nothing while my folks cooked and cleaned and bathed Samantha and read to Samantha at night and entertained Samantha (Mommy and Daddy could drop off the face of the planet with Grandma and Papa are around and Samantha wouldn't notice - it's great!), but it sure was relaxing! (And, I didn't feel guilty enough to actually get up and DO something.) Samantha and Stephen and my dad went downtown on Thanksgiving morning to see the Houston Thanksgiving Day parade. It was Samantha's first parade. She really enjoyed it. Then, on Friday, we went to Space Center Houston (the museum at Johnson Space Center) and one of the high school bands was there en masse (they were all wearing matching t-shirts). They were from Georgia and they were really nice kids. Anyway, Samantha thought it was really cool that they had marched in the parade and kept pointing them out every time she saw another band kid. Samantha enjoyed the museum. Ever since Slimey the Worm flew to the moon on Sesame Street with WASA (Worm Air and Space Agency) Samantha has been talking about wanting to be an astronaut. They had some of the real astronauts on Sesame Street talking about space flight and the shuttle and education and stuff. We drove back from Houston on Saturday afternoon. Sunday afternoon, after church, we put up our Christmas lights. It was almost 80 degrees outside and sunny. It seemed a little weird putting up Christmas lights in shorts, but hey, we took advantage of the nice weather. We got all of our outdoor lights up and put up the Christmas tree and got the lights on it. Today, the plan was to put the ornaments on the tree, but it just didn't happen. This being Monday after an entire week of rest and relaxation, neither Stephen nor I had the energy to do anything extra. (Back to reality, bummer!) Samantha just did NOT understand. She was not happy about not decorating the tree tonight. This year is fun because this is the first year that Samantha remembers last Christmas. She is very VERY excited, but does not have the concept of WAITING for Christmas. Today, we were grocery shopping and Samantha wanted me to buy a birthday cake mix (I told her that we would bake a birthday cake for baby Jesus at Christmas). I tried to explain to her that we have 26 more days until Christmas ... plenty of time to get a cake mix and we don't need one TODAY! I guess it is my fault because I did tell her that Christmas would come after Thanksgiving (I didn't realize that she would interpret that as the DAY AFTER Thanksgiving!) This coming Saturday, we are going to do breakfast with Santa at church. We did it last year and Samantha STILL talks about it. This evening we were moving some things around in the living room to make room for the Christmas decorations (that hopefully, we will have the energy to put up tomorrow night since our Sunday School class Christmas party is going to be at our house this coming Saturday). Samantha got very upset when we told her that we were going to put her wooden blocks right in front of the fireplace (seemed like a good place to play with them - the tile makes a nice level surface for building); she was concerned that Santa would trip over the blocks and get hurt when he came down the chimney. Stephen and I had to promise her that we would move the blocks before Christmas so that Santa wouldn't get hurt. Samantha has falls on the brain because Grandma Dorothy took a bad fall on Thanksgiving day. My cousin's 18 month old little girl, Bailey, was running toward the street, and there was a car coming down the street, and there were cars parked on both sides of the driveway so there was no way that the driver of the car could see Bailey and my mom was the closest one to her. The driveway dropped off at a sharp angle at the end and mom stepped sideways and lost her balance and fell - she skinned both of her knees and jammed her left wrist AND she managed to grab Bailey with her right hand and keep her fron running into the street. At least her injuring were not in vain, she did save Bailey! (Way to go Grandma!) Tomorrow I go for a sonagram and a checkup. Stephen and Samantha are going, too. I think that the sonagram will make an impression on Samantha. She is very excited about being a big sister. Lately, she has been using my belly button as a microphone to talk to the baby. She wants to make sure that the baby will recognize her voice when it is born (how could it not?!). Take care! - Tana --------------9B6A592EF9849921918108EC Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="vcard.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Stephen Reeve Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="vcard.vcf" begin: vcard fn: Stephen Reeve n: Reeve;Stephen org: Somerset, SPS-ASP
