Hello! I just had to brag on Samantha for being such a big girl. Yesterday (Monday) morning we got up and ate breakfast and watched Sesame Street together. Then, I turned off the TV and told her that I was going to take my shower and she could play in her room ... and then we were going to go and pick up the VCR from the repair shop. (Our JVC VCR recently started eating tapes, the repair man said that it was a common and easy to fix problem with JVC VCRs). Well, Samantha must have been highly motivated to go pick up that VCR because while I was in the shower ... she went and picked out her clothes, got them out of the closet ... came in the bathroom and went potty (WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED!!!!!) all by herself ... got her clothes off of the hangers and got herself completely dressed ... including shoes and socks ... ALL BY HERSELF!!!!!! All I had to do was turn on the water so that she could wash her hands and then tie her shoes! She was VERY PLEASED with herself and told everybody that we saw that she got dressed before Mommy! I thought we had finally passed the facination with death and dying .. but I got more questions today. Today, she asked "Are you still real after you die and go to heaven?" and "Why can't you come back after you go to heaven?" ... and then the easy one "Do you miss YOUR Grandma and Pa-Pa since they are in heaven?" She is still in the kick of having different parts of her body wanting to do different things. The other night at supper, Murphy was under the table and Stephen and I kept shooing her out. Samantha piped in with "Mommy, this foot wants to kick Murphy, and this foot wants to be nice!" (To which I replied, "If your one foot kicks Murphy, then your whole body is going to go into time out.") Then, she put both hands over the spout of her sippy cup and put it up to her mouth and said "Mommy, my mouth is thirsty and wants to drink, but my hands won't let it." (To which I replied, "Your ONE brain controls both your hands and your mouth, so you will have to decide who is going to win!" ... aaarrggghh!) This one really bugs me ... I keep having visions of Jack Nickleson talking to his finger (was that the actor??? - I never did see that movie, just the previews) Today I finally bought a sewing machine cabinet!!!! I have been saving up for one for a while now. I had one all picked out and knew exactly how much it was going to cost ... and when I finally had the money saved up ... it had been discontinued and was no longer available ... aarrgghh! Well, since I had all the money saved up and both of my favorite sewing machine stores were having sales on their sewing machine cabinets ... I picked out a different one. It is a Koala cabinet - made in Australia. The store just started carrying them about a year ago. Anyway, I picked out a really nice cabinet ... and it was significantly cheaper than the one I had originally picked out (because it has a pneumatic lift instead of an electric lift). It should be delivered sometime next week. You know what I will be doing this weekend - cleaning out my sewing room to take down the door sitting on top of two bookshelves that my sewing machine and serger currently sit on and making a nice path so that the delivery men can bring the cabinet in without risk of bodily injury. (If you have ever seen my sewing room, you understand!) Stephen and I are still struggling with how we are going to tell Samantha about Mark and Lana's divorce. (Mark and Lana are our next door neighbors and their little boy, Adam is 8 weeks younger than Samantha and they have been playmates practically since birth.) I was talking to one of the women in my playgroup and she seemed to think that we might be able to get by without mentioning it at all. Especially since Adam moved out once before and Samantha hardly ever saw Mark before because we usually played with Adam during the day when the daddies are at work. Right now, Samantha is still struggling with the concept that Adam is in daycare all day and we can't invite him over to play whenever we want (like we used to). Lana is still looking for a job and has had one interview. --------------55DED4A11D012E80B7BD932D Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="vcard.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Stephen Reeve Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="vcard.vcf" begin: vcard fn: Stephen Reeve n: Reeve;Stephen org: Somerset, SPS-ASP
