Okay, my kids always seem to wait until right after I send out a long
bragadocious e-mail to say something really noteworthy ... so I just had
to pass these two along for your enjoyment!
The set-up: Our van has been having transmission problems, so Stephen
took the Mustang (with no air contioning) to work and I took the Camry
to run around with the kids. We had been to swimming lessons, story
time at the library (where the kids got gift certificates through the
summer reading program for free kid's meals at Whataburger), and then
lunch at Whataburger. Christopher had asked me over and over why we
were taking the Camry and not the Van. I tried to explain to him that
the van's transmission was starting to go and I didn't want to drive it
much. I finally gave up and just told him it was broken and we couldn't
drive it until it was fixed. I have been wanting a new van for some
time so the transmission problems have us trying to reach a decision on
whether to fix the old van or buy a new one. After we left Whataburger
... we were driving to the Honda dealership to see about the
availability of the Odyssey (the last time we looked at them it was a
3-5 month lead time to get one).
This is what I heard from the back seat:
Samantha: "No, No Christopher, do it this way"
Christopher: "Noooooooooooo"
Samantha: "Listen Christopher, look. When I grow up, I am going to be
a Mommy. When you grow up, you are going to be a Daddy. We always have
to do what Mommy says ... even Daddy. That means you will have to do
what I say when you grow up, so you might as well get started now and do
it my way."
After we got to the dealership. I was just starting to talk to the
salesman when Christopher walked up to him and started tugging on his
sleeve saying "I have something to say to you". I tried to get
Christopher to not interrupt, but the salesman laughed and said "Oh, let
him tell me" ... and then Christopher said "OUR CAR IS BWOKE"
Have a nice day!
