Roxann Dawson who stars as B'Elanna Torres, Chief Engineer
Roxann Dawson is Chief Engineer B'Elanna Torres, a beautiful young woman who is half-human, half-Kiingon, on UPN's "Star Trek: Voyager." A former student at Starfleet Academy, B'Elanna quit and joined the Maquis. "B'Elanna is strong willed, independent and confused," Dawson explains. "Caught between two worlds, she attempts to deny and suppress her powerful Klingon side."
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dawson was a theater arts major at the University of California at Berkeley. The talented and beautiful actress soon found her first acting stint nothing short of remarkable as she landed the role of Diana Morales in the Broadway production of "A Chorus Line."
Her theatrical credits grew as she performed in productions off Broadway with the Circle Repertory Company and at regional theatres across the country from Arena Stage in Washington DC to the South Coast Repertory in Southern California.
Her television credits include a series regular role in "Nightingales" and "The Round Table." Additionally, she had leading roles in several television movies - among them "Mortal Sins"; "Dirty Work"; "Broken Angel"; "Pointman"; and the miniseries "Mario Puzo's The Fortunate Pilgrim." Other TV appearances include "The Untouchables"; "Equal Justice"; "Jack's Place"; and "Matlock." Most recently she was seen in the PBS Foto-Novelas series "Seeing Through Walls." Her feature film credits include leading roles in "Guilty by Suspicion" and "Darkman III."
Dawson authored a science-fiction novel, "Entering Tenebrea," the first in a trilogy, to be released in late 1998. Her play "Passages Through the Heart" received its premiere at the University of Minnesota. The production was an Irene Ryan finalist.
She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, casting director Eric Dawson, and their newborn daughter Emma Rose.
