''Don't worry, I'm here. I didn't lie..''
''I knew you would come. You could never depart until it is played out, and the curtain has fallen.''
''We don't know yet that the last act will be as we wish. The King has proved, once again, that you can't write his lines for him. Everything has changed. What of your script now?''
''For once, he is a minor character. He is out of the play, despite his trickery. The understudies will put the misplaced props into the right hands. The final scene will be just as we thought, lies and all.''
''But the rewritten script has removed the exit for one of the characters.''
He shrugs. ''There will have to be an off-stage exit.''
''So you see no reason to avoid your commitments at this point? It is time to reveal your secrets then.''
''If you keep your commitments, I will keep mine. But now there is some reason for caution and delay.''
''That is not what we agreed.''
''As you have pointed out, circumstances have changed. It would be unwise to risk the denouement until the dramatic changes are proven to be minor.''
''I might decide to write new lines for us.''
''As I noted when you arrived, the risk is minor. And I can keep things between ourselves if you read the wrong script.''
''Drastic action would be necessary in that case, as you know. What of the curse then?''
''The curse concerns my role, not yours. You may be sure I am fully aware of it. Do you too wish to make your exit early, off-stage?''
''Since I am here, you may be sure the play goes on. Show me where the child is. As for our brother, when you have dealt with his replacement I will be paying you a visit.''
''I will look forward to it.''
