Two men sit in the office one of them is average height and of slight build. His blonde hair has thinned some but, his head is still totally covers with out combing over the bald spot. He sits in a chair with one ankle resting on the knee of the other leg. He peers over his glasses at the other man, just enough to see over his note pad.
The other is somewhat young, in the mid twenties range, 24 to be exact. He sweeps back his brown hair somewhat nervously as he lays on the couch. He's dressed in jeans and a t-shirt.He looks very averages. Brown hair and brown eyes. Good build and health but, nothing spectacular. Nothing about him would stand out to those that know him but, as his shrink is learning, Dan Ketch may be anything but, normal.
"So," the doctor began, "why don't you start from the begining? You've mentioned little things but, you have yet to tell the entire tale. If I do not know what troubles you, I cannot help, you know."
Dan rolled his eyes. He hated this. The only reason he came was that his mother guilted him into it. Her heart was in the right place but, Dan wished she would just leave him alone. Don't get it wrong, he loves his mother, he truly does but, she worries...about everything and is constantly questioning almost everything Dan does.
" I think that this is a mistake." Dan stated plainly. "Like I said, I don't even know if I believe it! This could just be a waste of..."
The psychiatrist cut him off," Just start and I'll decide if it's a waste of the money. Now, please go."
'Yeah, like you really care.' Ketch thought, as he crossed his arms and looked at the ceiling. He took several moments before he started to speak.
"I guess it started when my sister Barb came home for a visit. It's been months since I'd seen her last. When we were growing up she and I were like best friends. She was the only one that I could tell anything to. Hell, she was the one that I went to for advice when I first got interested in girls.
Anyway, from the moment that she came home, mom was all over her."
"I'm sorry to interrupt." the shrink said, rubbing his eyes for a moment. "Where does your sister live that she's away for so long?"
"She WAS an Advertising Executive for one of those big TV advert firms. I forget the name. Anyway, she lived in the big city, New York. Mom and I live in Cypress Hills."
The psychiatrist nodded and prepared to write more.
"Please continue."
Dan rolled his eyes and nodded.
"Anyway, as I was saying, from the moment Barb walked in the door, mom was all over her. Asking if she needed this that and the other thing. How the trip was. If she needed to lay down. All that motherly stuff. I was at work at the time so, luckily, I missed it all. Still, by the time that I got home, Barb wanted to get out of the house. Not that she doesn't love mom and all but, you know how it is. You can only take some much of your parents at one time. Barb suggested that we go for a walk. When we were kids we'd go for walks and talks in the cemetary all the time. It was pretty creepy when I was younger. Barb used to scare me all the time!" Dan smiled briefly thinking back on those days. He paused before continueing.
"It's like 11 o'clock at night and we're just walking along. Joking, laughing and retelling old stories from when we were younger. Probably the most fun that I had, had in a long time. It was great to get away from things for a while and relax so, of course, it was all destined to go to hell in a handbasket."
