Scott Cunningham is a Richmond Native, the only son of two Verbena. As a result of his upbringing most other children considered him odd throughout his childhood and he withdrew farther and farther from society, instead preferring to experience the world through nature and, when they became available to him, computers. He became awakened in his early teens when I favorite pet, an anole, became injured due to Scott's carelessness in feeding him. The still-live cricket had slashed a cut in the animal's throat while being swallowed. Desperate to save his pet, Scott instinctively healed the creature. His interest in computers rose until he graduated from high school and told his parents he wanted to major in Comp-Sci at college and from there, study with the Sons of Ether. A Technocratic hit was planned to kill him and his parents when they were uncovered, but a delayed flight back from college enabled Scott to avoid the trap, which killed both of his parents. Still quite young, Scott now works for BioSpan, a Richmond based Bioengineering Company. Though not officially a part of any Tradition Scott's methods are quite Etherite, while his roots are solidly in Verbena. His life is now consumed with a desire to track down the technocrat agent who killed his parents and exact revenge, which is made more difficult by the knowledge that the same agent is most likely still looking to finish the job.
Update (Post New York Plauge Chronicle): Following the Sept 11 bombing, Scott was assigned by his company to travel to New York and help survivors. While there he came into contact with a rag-tag cabal. The cabal’s leader, Dan Ozzle, claimed that the so-called terrorist attacks had been caused by mind controlling Technocratic nanobytes. The target of the attack was Pale Moon Enterprises, a front company for New York’s Kindred prince. Apparently the Technocracy had been aiding the vampires in a war against the Central Park Garou. The Tecnocracy then turned on their allies. This gave them control of the powerful node far beneath Central Park. To gain access to the node, the cabal struck a vampiric safe house and preceded through the sewer system to eventually destroy the magical super-computer Rebecca relied heavily on Scott as a healer, though he also inflicted quite a bit of damage in the series of firefights. Though less acknowledged then other members of the group such as Dan Ozzle, who coordinated with the wolf pack, or Jerris, who planned Rebecca’s destruction, but working behind the scenes Scott was a hidden strength of the group. He saved the lives of most of his companions on at least one occasion…three in Garret’s case, and used an old contact to hunt down the source of the Ebola, allowing Tradition mages to find a cure and end the crisis. During the final battle around the Technocratic biology lab Scott finally faced his fears in a quiet hallway far from his allies. Having been separated from the other Mages, Scott found himself face to face with his parent’s killer. Scott’s left arm was burned almost to nothing in the fight, but through a life/correspondence effect he managed to multiply the damage and redirect it back to it’s source, burning his enemies heart and killing him. His driving goal behind him, Scott has returned to his work in Richmond and is searching for a way to redeem himself in the eyes of his new family, the Verbena. He has a reputation for uncontrolled vengeance and is looking to show himself as concerned about larger causes. After the battle, Scott would have died if not for the intervention of his childhood friend and later enemy, Star Darkthorn. Since then their relationship has grown back to the glory of their childhood years. They see little of each other though, as Star is on trial for crimes against the Celestial Chorus and Scott spends his time trying to prove his worth to the Verbena, his new tradition. Paradigm Magick is everywhere. It is the air we breathe, it is the people we see, it is the love we feel. In some ways, reality is based more on magick then on the physical. Scott sees magick as an ever present, static-like haze that permeates everything. When using magick Scott pulls that energy into himself, focuses it into a goal, and releases it. When others use magick Scott sees the haze shift colors and speeds around them. When others see Scott use magick they can sometimes see an aura around him, the color reflecting the intent of his spell. Spirit: This world is but one of many layers stacked upon each other. All creatures exist on every layer in one form or another, though they rarely see any but the physical world. Mind: Flesh is the present, but the mind endures for eternity. It is the essence of who each person is and can be. Just like flesh a trained person can reach out and touch another mind with their own. Forces: The haze of magick focused into a pure form. Matter: Every object in the physical world is filled with magick, and by molding that magick, you can change the object. Time: Time is no different from space, but if you wish to get anywhere you must let magick do the walking. Correspondence: Just as magick permeates everything, everything affects the magick around it. By feeling the flow and patterns of magick one can feel the ripples of every physical thing around them. Entropy: In the swirl of unfocussed magick there is chaos. If one can feel and accept the chaos, then they can use the chaos to aid them. |
