Using the Stamp and Smudge Tools

I've placed the high-res file on this page, so that you can work with it, but it will take a while to load. Be patient.

To complete this project, download the top picture. (Right-click the image, click Save Image. Save it to your desktop.) Then open it in Photoshop.

You will need to use the Crop tool (C) to straighten the image.

Then use the Stamp and the Smudge tools to get rid of the wires, the garbage bins, and other elements that just aren't nice. (Yes, I know you could just crop them out, but that's not going to teach you to use Stamp and Smudge. So do it the hard way.)

I've taken out one of the cars, the basketball game, and I used the Sponge to desaturate the isolated red area on the balcony.

After you've improved the composition of the picture, you can select the green (use Select - Color Range) and brighten it with Levels. Do the same to the sky.

Don't be satisfied just doing as well as I did. You can do better. For example, I forgot to get rid of the trash can's shadow. You wouldn't have forgotten, right?
