The Pink Padawan's thoughts on fighting...it might be a cliche, but the adage "Don't start the fight, but always make sure to end it," seems to ring true to me. The Light Jedi usually are the ones to ignite their sabers last, after the Sith Lord or Dark Jedi. Luke ignited his saber in the cave on Dagobah out of fear and hatred of the idea of Darth Vader. He failed that test as a result. In the case of Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn on Tatooine, it is definitely Maul who initiates the conflict. On Naboo, he might leisurely ignite his double bladed saber after the two Jedi, but the fight started long before then, when he ran down Qui-Gon in the Tatooine desert. Obi-Wan finished the fight. It may not be the deepest thing in the world, but I happened to be thinking about it as I sat here at 4:20 a.m., nursing a sore throat so bad I can't possibly sleep... |
