My Egyptian Vacation

From November 14th - 27th of 1999, I embarked on my first international vacation to one of the cradles of civilization that has fascinated me since childhood.

I had to go by myself but I met up with the people of my tour group and got to know them very well.  My sister recommended to me the touring service Turquoise International Tours.  Mr. Ali Hamidzadeh took very good care of us and I also recommend using his touring services.  T.I. is focused on belly dancing, and although I don't belly dance, I appreciate the art, talent and hard work it takes to become a good dancer.   That focus gave the tour an extra flair that I would not have experienced had I gone with a more "mainstream" tour group.

My Photo Album:  I scanned over 60 pictures with descriptions for your enjoyment.  It's only a fraction of my pictures, but it gives a good overall taste for the 2 weeks I was there.

My Travel Journal: A detailed description of each and every day I spent in Egypt.  It's worth the read!

MY FAVORITE EGYPT LINKS

Egyptian Ministry of Tourism: One of the best sites I have been to with lots of photos, articles, information and an online "Khan al Khalili" with Egyptian merchandise.

Virtual Egyptian Museum:  This website contains a gallery of all the works of David Roberts, who painted INCREDIBLE Egyptian and Arabic scenes in the early 1800s. There is also a virtual, self guided tour of the Valley of the Kings.  Just click on the The Virtual Egyptian Museum!

Egypt and Art:  Painter and photographer Richard Deurer has a very informative website on Egypt's history and mythology along with his paintings and photographs -- lots of useful Egyptian links too.  He is a very talented and knowledgeable individual.
