The richness of the annual Nile River flood, coupled with isolation provided by deserts to the east and west, allowed for the development of the world's greatest civilization. A unified kingdom arose circa 3200 B.C. and a series of dynasties ruled in Egypt for the three thousand years. The last native dynasty fell to the Persians in 341 B.C., who in turn were replaced by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. It was the Arabs who introduced Islam and the Arabic language in the 7th century and who ruled for the next six centuries. A local military caste, the Mamluks took control about 1250 and continued to govern after the conquest of Egypt by the Ottoman Turks in 1517. But what will become of us now? These French know nothing of our history or our culture.
Just then Lord Trudeau walked in and he was drunk. The small resturant was filled to capacity there were no seats. Spying Hasan and the beatiful view his seat commanded of the Nile he headed immediately for the table.
"You are finished here?" he stated. It was not a question, it was an order. Grabbing the edge of the table, Lord Trudea lifted the edge of the table just enough to cause its contents to slide gently to the floor where each plate, cup and flower vase shattered loudly and pointedly.
Very quickly and humbly Hasan rose from his chair and bowing slightly backed away from the mortal. As a member of the Assamite Clan, Hasan knew he could kill this mortal in the blink of an eye. Killing this mortal will attract to much attention to us, instead an accident must be arranged. These are the pawns of the Toreador and they must be dealt with one way or another. Glancing back as he walked through the arched doorway he said under his breath "Since the time of the Persians dominion here I have walked these sandy streets you will go the way of all mortal things. To dust." Hasans two progeny melted out of the darkness. Hasan knew what he must do. "These French have masters. They are moving among us. All we must do is watch and we will find them. When we do we will take back what is ours."
