London Lodging: Arrived Morning of 5/26/99 Departed Morning of 5/27/99 |
Geogian House Hotel 35 St. Georges's Dr. SW 1 London (011)(44)(171)834.14.38 |
This small hotel or B&B is located in a row house near Victoria train station. However, it is hard to find because the street changes names several times. The rates were low, and it was nice for the price. Funny Anecdote: They were obviously not sure weather to give us twin beds or a doubble because they put us in a room with three beds! York Lodging: Arrived 5/27/99 Departed morning of 5/30/99 |
Barbican Hotel 20 Barbican Rd. York YO1 5AA North Yorkshire (011)(44)(1904)627.617 |
This B&B is located just outside the old city walls, near the one remaining barbican at Walmgate Bar -- hence the name. It is a ways from the train station, but if you are backpacking, it entails a lovely walk on the city walls. This is one of the nicest B&Bs we stayed in, and the owners were great too. One is from York, the other American. Touristing in York |
Glasgow Lodging: Arrived late 5/30/99 Departed Morning of 6/4/99 |
Mardella Farm Old School Rd. Gartocharn G83 8S D Scotland (011)(44)(1389)830.428 |
We spent most of the day before we arrived in Edinburgh. The owners came and picked us up at the train station in the nearby town of Balloch. This is also a lovely little B&B in the countryside near Loch Lomond and Glasgow, in a town called Gartocharn. It used to be their house, and all of the rooms are nice. We stayed in all three of them because other guests had special requirements. We were treated almost like family. Touristing in Glasgow |
Dublin Lodging: Arrived 6/4/99 Depart Morning of 6/9/99 |
Avondale 3 Northumberland Ave. Dun Laoghaire County Dublin (011)(353)(1)280-96-28 |
Dun Laoghaire is on the outskirts of dublin, easily accessable to the Dart, Dublin's subway. It was nice though it did not seem quite as nice because we had spent more, thus staying in nicer places in York and Glasgow. The two ladies who run the B&B are kind. Touristing in Dublin |

Hotel Bahnhof Hotel de la Poste |
Lodging in Zermatt is expensive. Hotel Banhoff is the cheapest hotel in Zermatt, but they mixed up our reservations, and gave our room away. Instead, we stayed at the Hotel de la Poste, where we had our own bathroom -- even if it wasn't attached to the room, and a good breakfast. This was the largest place in which we stayed.
