Calendar -- Kom Ombo
This slab, and the walls around it, are part
of a great calendar which told the priests when to sacrifice
what. Every day of the year was written down, there, which tells
archaeologists a lot about the religion of later days.
The original temple was built by Amenophis
I and Thutmosis III, and was rebuilt by the Ptolemies more than
1000 years later. So what we're seeing here may be the original
forms of worship, or they might be the "modern" take
on what folks used to do. Hard to say.
