Yet another sign of not knowing what your town was built on...

When you enter the temple complex, if the Portico of the Temple of Thutmosis III is on your right, this is on your left, straight up the wall about 20 - 30 feet up.

By the time this mosque was constructed, the temple was long-forgotten and buried under the sand. I'm sure the folks who made it realized they were building on something solid, but they had no idea what it was and probably didn't care.

Imagine their surprise!

The Mosque is still used to this day. They just come in a different entrance, we hope.
