It's true. I mean, I don't feel the need to erradicate every bug off the face of the planet or anything. But if I see one crawling in my house I fully intend to take a kleenex and squish him.
And that's what made this episode so fun.
Oh, I'm sure that this episode wasn't intended on being incredibly "fun" (such as 1969 ), but in truth, it was. Our SG-1 friends running around with big guns shooting at big bugs. In fact, it reminds me a lot of Starship Troopers...the bugs even looked a lot alike. Actually, the episode is pretty darn close to Starship Troopers. But that's okay. It wasn't a horrible movie, but it wasn't the best I've ever seen. And that's true with this episode. But before I get off the subject of bugs, I just want to say that I think it would've been pretty funny if after running around shooting those giant invisible bugs, someone like maybe Captain Carter or perhaps Sergeant Siler saw a spider crawling on the Briefing Room table, and promptly passed out.
But enough of that. It was a good enough episode. It didn't have me on the edge of my seat or anything, but it was good. It was nice seeing the Tok'ra again. Well...sort of. I'm glad that SG-1 has an ally against the Goa'uld and generally all things evil in the Universe, but let's not over-do it. I liked it better when SG-1 was sort of "alone" in the universe, and had to do everything on their own. Now it's really more "If there's something strange, in the neighbourhood, who ya' gonna call? THE TOK'RA!!", and we must avoid this at all costs.
I liked the big guns though. And, once again, the effects were spectacular. We've been introduced to another new neat little species in the universe; the Retu. And, knowing the directors, we'll be seeing (or, in this case, not) them again when we least expect it.
