Schwa logo

Once again, we meet in the pages of Zonal Vision . Most of my friends at school call this fanzine the Schwa ; however, the Schwa is the name of the column inside the Zonal Vision fanzine.
Anyway for those of you who have taken a peek at page 4: what you see is my first creation using the Photoshop 4.0 software. I decided to print some kind of artwork of my own in Zonal Vision ; meanwhile, Gene Longcrier is taking classes and working on a special drawing that will be showcased in Zonal Vision sometime in a future issue.
Also, some other students are still working on artwork to showcase in Zonal Vision , so I decided it was time to showcase some of my own work.
I was going to write some articles specifically on the Incredible Hulk & the Fantastic Four , but I decided to showcase a story that has been kicking around inside my head for quite some time. Let me know how you like "My Name Is Called Disturbance" . It is the first part of a trilogy.
Speaking of the Fantastic Four . I read in a recent issue of Wizard that Scott Lobdell has been removed from the FF and will be replaced by Chris Claremont. All I have to say about that is that I am real ly looking forward to his take on the FF and I am blessed that I chose to renew my subscription.
Claremont is also taking over the scripting reigns on Wolverine . If anyone can restore Logan's adamantium in a beyond plausible manner, it is the original creator of Wolvie. Again, I am elated that I have subscribed to Wolverine . Warren Ellis had an interesting 4-part story-arc, but let's face it: Chris Claremont has to be the best choice for Wolverine .
Larry Hama had a great run on Wolverine, which is a great record for Claremont to surpass in quality of scripting; therefore, it should be well worth the price of admission when Claremont gets going full-steam-ahead. Don't miss out guys 'n gals.
Speaking of Larry Hama, if you have not taken a look at Generation X since he came on board as scripter, it is well worth looking into.
Another storyline that has taken me back to my early Marvel years of comic book enjoyment has been (rather surprisingly) the 4-part Spider-hunt that appeared in the 4 Spider-titles.
What really impressed me was the characterization in issue #255 (pg 17) of the Spectacular Spider-man . The love & understanding oozing from Mary-Jane Watson-Parker towards her beaten & battered hubby touched a romantic chord in my heart. Despite the stress & strain of Norman Osborn's intricate plot to destroy the Parkers; Mary- Jane was portrayed as one of the best female supporting characters in any company's comic book. Hopefully, they remain married in spite of all the changes that the Spider-Crew is implementing in their lives in the months to come.
Forget about the cloning fiasco: Spider-Man is also worthy of your entertainment dollars. Norman Osborn (aka Green Goblin ) is asserting himself as one of the best all-time Spidey villains. Check it out!
I'm running out of room & there are so many more characters to discuss. Captain America & Iron Man are interesting reads, but I cannot comment on the Avengers because I have only read issue #1.
Out of the 4 Batman titles, I only renewed Batman & Detective this past month. Plus, I renewed my JLA subscription (even though 3 times in the past year I have not had an issue delivered. Anyone have part 5 of Rock of Ages ?)
