Spring vacation has begun and I have not checked my E-mail In 2 or 3 weeks, so it any of you have sent me a message in the past couple of weeks it will be a while longer before I check it and answer anyone. Meanwhile, thank you for all the kind words about ZonalVision in the ORComix APA, I really appreciate the response and it's good to know that people read what is written.
For those of you who are looking for a fun read that will take you back to your childhood, take a look at The Spectacular Spider-Man issue # 256 titled "Rabbit Fire'. John Marc DeMatteis wrote a fun story & the pencils & inks by Luke Ross & Dan Green, combined with the colors by John Kalisz & the letters by Rich & Liz at Comicraft really worked well together to produce an entertaining read that carried me back to my childhood appreciation for the comic book. In fact, there is a creative energy in the Spider-Man titles that are worth investigating.
There's been a recurring thought that I have had for the past several weeks. It has to do with the number of comics that are on the market that I have not had the time or opportunity (re: finances) to buy & read. How many good storylines have I missed? How many great works of art? How many stories contained in one issue have I missed that I would have enjoyed? A person just has to purchase what they can afford & choose the titles that catch their interest (or at least the titles they do not want to pass up) in case said titles provide the type of read they are looking for in comic book entertainment.
In the light of what I just wrote, I'll just have to do my part in mentioning any particular comic book that really sparks my entertainment interest.
APOLOGIES DEPT: Today is April 21st & I just found the time to open my Zonal Vision computer file after a rather hectic several weeks at school (not to mention at work as Sports Editor). I apologize for not sending a Zonal Vision in April's APA. I have made a decision to at least send 2 pages each month despite having mild writer's block regarding "My Name Is Called Disturbance'. Until my creative juices do justice to writing part 2, 1 will at least send something each month to maintain contact with my fellow ORCOMX APA members.
Yesterday, I received Captain America # 5 & Avengers #4 in the mail. Captain America seems to be headed in an interesting direction. His shield is lost at sea, Prince Namor is too busy to find it for him & says it will be a tough thing to do (loosely translated from a previous comic) a Cap is now a prisoner of the Skrulls, while being impersonated by a rogue Skrull. This is worth checking out.
The Avengers new lineup is revealed in issue # 4: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye & Warbird (formerly Ms. Marvel who will probably be axed from the team in a few issues by the indications in this issue). Justice & Firestar are reserve members who will be added to the regular lineup in a few issues. The jury is still out on this one, but hey: "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!"
More next issue as I endeavor to catch up. DPH
