A Child's Eyes

A child's eyes
see the many wonders of this world
The sunny shade of lemonade
on a hot summer's day
Spring flowers, grass all around,
blowing in the wind like unfurled
Flags at the Forth of July,
glowing fireworks, like the fireflies
That twinkle like the
brightness of a shooting star
The wonder of seeing a sunrise,
the excitement of a Birthday surprise
Hidden in a child's heart, a child's mind,
a child's eyes are where they are
But what will that child do when he
sees the horror of hearing his mother
Scream in pain because she is hit by a cruel
man who says that his son's the one to blame?
Such an injustice, for a child should not be
subject to the hatred of others,
For while parents think that they can get by
with their sins, there are small eyes watching
who'll remember it 'till the end,
Because you never can keep your darkest deeds
from being seen by your children's eyes.
