"TOO WET FOR COMFORT"
PART TWO
"OH, NO! THE TREE IS BREAKING UNDER
BILL'S WEIGHT AND HE'S TOO FRIGHTENED TO MOVE! ! !" Alleah
cried.
"Alleah, you stay here. I'll try
to walk Bill to safety," I said as I started over to the
log that Bill was trapped on. "Bill! Don't panic! I'm going
to help you down!"
I quickly crawled up to the log that Bill
was stranded on.
"Bill, don't move. I'm going to help
you get down, " I said as I stepped on the log. I walked
carefully to were he was standing.
"Fred! You saved me!" Bill exclaimed.
"We're not safe yet," I said,
worried about the strength of the log.
We had gotten to the middle of the log.
Just when every thing seemed to be going well, the log cracked
right in front of us!
"FRED! ! ! We are going to fall!"
Bill screamed." We're going to have to go back!"
"No! We can't! The log is cracked
there, too!"
Suddenly, the tree broke in two places!
The log and we started falling faster and faster!
