Searching the Universe
By Elizabeta
August 17, 1999

we drift around aimlessly
like solar wind swept space debris
searching - always searching
for something we cannot see
we look for ourselves
in the guise of another
hoping the next new face
is a clone undercover
we search the universe
for a happy kind of vibe
something to make us feel whole
something to make us feel alive
we travel the universe
and go on mythical odysseys
all to chase some butterflies
that we cannot even see
but all too often we get lost
in the vastness of outer space
with no map or road back to
our homesweet happy star base
we never do find what we want
and just end up lost and alone
crying in the darkened quagmire
and desperately wishing we were home

perhaps all we really need
is Someone we never thought of
Often overlooked, but always there -
the Lord above
