Winter
By Elizabeta
January 23, 1997

snow covers the ground like powdered sugar
the trees stand naked without their leaves
bits of snow cling to pine needles like icing
and icicles hang off roofs like jagged teeth
snow falls from the sky like confetti
the wind drives snow around like leaves in the fall
the world is still and quiet
as if preserved in a glass dome
the picture of arctic perfection
this is the frozen world of winter
