“With a smile as beautiful as the sunrise
With a laugh that makes my heart skip a beat
And your eyes twinkle like two shimmering stars.
Oh, it all sounds wonderful to me.”
Makoto’s eyes shone as she saw a familiar face walking down the street towards her. “Ashitaka...” she whispered into the cold December night air. His hair was perfect as always, dark brown and beautiful. His eyes were still the most startling green. She could see her breath as she felt a deep longing in her heart.
“The stars sparkle in the heavens.
While the moon shines down on me.
But all that I see are the stars in your own eyes.
Oh, it all sounds wonderful to me.”
She remembered the night they had met, just last year ago, this day, when they had first met. It was love at first sight- for her at least. She had been shoved to the ground by a high school student who was in her way. She landed right in the snow. Even though everyone was laughing at her, Ashitaka had come and helped her to her feet again. Even now, a year later, she could still feel the warmth of his hand against her cold skin.
“With a smile as beautiful as the sunrise
With a laugh that makes my heart skip a beat
And your eyes twinkle like two shimmering stars.
Oh, it all sounds wonderful to me.”
He had been so kind, so gentle, that Makoto could not help falling in love with him. The next day, though, her friends had passed it off as “another Makoto love”. But it was different this time. This time she truly felt special when she was around him. The girls couldn’t understand that. Ashitaka meant something to her, something she couldn’t explain in words, it could only be felt. After that, she couldn’t wait to see his beautiful smile again.
“With a tear that shines like a moonbeam.
Misery that could make an angel cry.
For your love will never shine upon me.
And I fear that my heart shall never fly.”
Seeing him walk down the street towards her was the most wonderful feeling in the world, other than the warmth of his hands. But then she remembered something else. Ashitaka’s heart was taken by another girl before Makoto had even chanced upon him. Makoto soon realized that he wasn’t coming towards her. He didn’t see her. He was walking towards his girlfriend nearby.
“With a smile as beautiful as the sunrise
With a laugh that makes my heart skip a beat
And your eyes twinkle like two shimmering stars.
Oh, it all sounds wonderful to me.”
Makoto stopped herself from waving to catch his attention. She didn’t want to ruin his joyous occasion with his girlfriend. So she sighed, content with having one last look at his handsome face. Then, she walked away. Maybe she’d see him again, someday. Maybe not. She looked up at the sky above her. Only time could tell. And she would be content with what she had.
“Ohhhhh, it all sounds wonderful to me.”
After all, thought Makoto. There are plenty of other hot guys to chase after!
Author’s note: Please, please, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don’t steal this song! I worked extremely hard on it during a time when I had an awful writer’s block. Yes, I did write this song myself. Saves me having to write all those “Copyright this person, that company, and those guys” crap. It was I who wrote it, and I worked really hard on it, so please don’t use it without giving me proper credit. Sailormoon and the character Makoto are copyright all those big, scary companies who made it (And Naoko, of course, the almighty goddess.... I mean, creator.... did I say goddess? heh heh heh.... ^.^;;). The name Ashitaka was “borrowed” from the movie Princess Mononoke, I’m not intelligent enough to make it up, so that’s copyright all the big, scary companies that made it. Aw, heck, it’s not like I’m gettin’ paid for this or anything! Peace out!
