The next morning, Fei began to make preparations which he should have done yesterday. "I better not have Elly catch me packing," Fei said to himself as he shoved extra pairs of clothes and a small, metallic, specially made remote control that could call his gear, Xenogears, in an instant. As he packed his things in the brown, leathery suitcase of his, Elly was downstairs, slaving over the hot stove, making breakfast. "Fei!" she called out, "Breakfast is almost ready!" "Okay! I'll be down in a minute!" Fei replied back. He finished packing his things and went down the two flights of stairs that lead to his small but advanced kitchen. "What's for breakfast?" Fei asked as he sat down in his chair. "I fixed chocolate chip pancakes with scrambled and overeasy eggs and nice, crisp, juicy bacon," Elly responded as she plopped down some pancakes on Fei's plate. "Yummy!" Fei remarked as he began eating the pancakes. Elly went to the fridge and took out a large pitcher of orange juice. She sat down across the table from Fei and began eating her breakfast. "I'll be great to see all of the old gang again huh?" Elly asked. "Yep, sure will be," Fei replied. "I wonder what they've been up to?" "All I know is, is that they wouldn't miss you winning the tournament for the 15th year in a row and you breaking the record," Elly answered. "I'm surprised Bart found a way to get Aveh back together," Fei said as he picked up his newspaper, "When Shevat fell to the earth and Deus' reign of terror began, the countries of Aveh and Kislev collapsed." "Well, Bart's a good man," Elly remarked, "He knows politics inside and out!" As they continued to finish their breakfast, they heard the sound of two, noisy, big engines land outside of Lahan. A soldier bursts into Fei's house with a look of terror on his face. "What's wrong?" Fei asked. The soldier replied, "Mr. Fong Wong! Mr. Fong Wong! Some weird looking UFO has landed outside of the village!" Fei turns back toward Elly, "I think the Yggdrasil has arrived." "Well, we better get going," Elly said as she took the dishes and put them in the sink. "Mr. Fong Wong! How could you leave at a time like this?" the soldier shouted. "Relax!" Fei snapped, "It's not a UFO! It's Bart's ship, the Yggdrasil. That's how me and Elly are getting to Bledavik!" The soldier just stared at Fei with a look of embarrassment. "Oh, sorry," the soldier remarked. "Listen, tell Dan to watch over the house while we're gone," Fei said in a quite voice, "I'll be back in a week." "Yes sir!" the soldier said as he solutes Fei.
On board the Yggdrasil, the sound of laughter and burping were heard as Fei and the rest of the gang went to the bar onboard and had a drink. They talked about old times, about the tournament, about events that have happened to them in the last fifteen years, but then everyone went dead silent as Billy told the tragic fate of his father, Jessie. "It was about six years ago. Father came in one day and told me that the Zohar Modifier had mysteriously been reactivated, which meant our gears were able to run again." "The Zohar modifier was reactivated?" Citan questioned, "How is that possible?" "I'm not sure," Billy responded, "All I knew and cared about was my gear was working after six years of rusting up in my garage. Anyway, since our gears worked again, we decided to head for the old Ethos HQ," Billy walked over and sat down on a stool. He then continued the story. "We we're on a mission to retrieve the hidden information about Ethos' involvement with Solaris that we found fifteen years ago. Then it happened." Billy began to cry. "Just let it out, Billy," Margie said as she hugged him. "I'm alright," Billy said as he wiped tears from his eyes. "What happened next?" Rico asked. "Yeah, how did Jesiah die?" Hammer said with curiosity. Billy continued the story. "We we're passing by The Tower of Babel in our gears when some unknown object appeared on my dad's radar. He declared it was nothing more than a patrol ship or something. But it wasn't that. It was a gear... a gear I've never seen before. It was huge, and had a diameter of that of Nortune. It attacked with full force. It shot a huge ball of energy at me. Father saw this and he dove in the way, taking the blow for me. He plummeted to the ocean below, leaving me to face this unknown enemy alone." "What did you do next Billy?" Citan asked. "I had no choice but to run. I flew as fast as I could, but that gear kept following me. Miraculously, I made it to the old Ethos' HQ but my gear was severely damaged. I quickly got out and ran for my life. I looked back and saw many figures come out of the gear. They chased me, firing their machine guns at me, and declaring they we're on a mission for some guy named Kriltine. A mission to exterminate all life on this planet." "A mission to exterminate all life on Earth?" Elly asked with fright. "That's what I heard," Billy replied. "What I want to know is who this Kriltine character is," Fei said. "I can't give you that information because I've never seen what he looks like," Billy said. "Fei," Citan replied, "don't let this distract you from the tournament. Whoever this guy is, his mission probably failed..." "Or in dormancy," Sigurd responded. "Anyhow, this shouldn't affect your performance tomorrow, Fei," Citan added. "Your right, doc," Fei replied, "I only need to concentrate on the tournament." "I suggest we all get some sleep," Rico suggested, "We're gonna need to land in Dazil for refueling anyway." "When will reach Dazil?" Maria asked Sigurd. "About an hour or so," Sigurd answered, "there's a nasty storm outside so we need to land as soon as possible."
The Yggdrasil soon descended and landed outside of the desert town of Dazil. "Doesn't rain chu much in chu desert!" Chu-Chu declared. "It's rain season in the desert," Margie explained, "which only lasts about two days!" Bright flashes of lightning raced across the sky as loud crackles of thunder boomed across the city. As the team entered Dazil they notice that no one was outside. "Where's everyone?" Maria asked. "It looks as if the town's been deserted," Citan added. "Why would a busy city like Dazil be deserted in the middle of the day?" Rico asked. "Maybe the storm scared the people and they went in their houses," Hammer replied. "Only one way to find out," Citan said as he approached a building. He knocked on the door several times. No one answered. "Strange," he said to himself. He went to another door and then another. "This whole street has been deserted," Citan concluded. "Something isn't right," Fei responded, "even during a storm, people are out shopping." Suddenly, they hear a blood curling scream. "What the hell!?!?" Rico asked. He looked around and saw nothing. "Where did that scream come from?" Elly said in fright as she held onto Fei. Fei looked around. All he could see was desert like adobe buildings lining the streets of Dazil. "It seems to have come from this direction," Billy said as he walked into an ally nearby. The team followed closely and looked around. "It's a dead in," Billy replied, "Let's turn..." He was interuppted by a loud crashing noise in a nearby dumpster. "What the hell was that?" Fei asked. Citan approached the dumpster and opened it. "I think I've solved our mystery," he said in a fearful voice. The crew approached the dumpster and saw a dead woman, who had been shot to death. "AHHHHHH!!" Margie screamed as she turned quickly away. "Wait a minute!" Elly declared, "We never heard a gun shot!" "It must have been a silenced gun," Billy answered. "Bro!" Hammer shouted. "What is it?" Fei asked. Hammer pointed down the street. "Oh my God!!!" Fei shouted. "What is it?" Rico asked. Fei pointed down the street, which was riddled with dead bodies, all shot to death. "AHHHHHHHH!!" Margie and Maria screamed as they turned away. "What could have done this?" Citan asked. All of a sudden they hear footsteps. A shadowy figure emerges from the shadows of the storm clouds. He was short, with black boots, pants, a black shirt and black gloves on. He carried an automatic rifle in his right hand. Billy looked at him and gasped. "What is it, Billy?" Elly asked. "That's them," Billy answered, "the guys who killed my father!" "That's what they look like?" Fei asked in surprise. Billy nodded. The soldier lifted his rifle up and pointed it at the team. "Bow down and worship the great Krlitine!" he shouted. "Who's this Kriltine character?" Fei asked. "You don't have a right to ask who the Great Kriltine is!" the soldier shouted. "Who are you?" Citan asked. "That's none of your concern!" the soldier shouted back. Lightning and thunder continued to flash and rumble across the sky. "What do you want?" Rico asked as he clinched his fists together. "No more questions! You will die at the hands of Kriltine!" the soldier replied. As he was ready to fire, Billy pulled out his shotgun and blew the soldier away. "That was close," he said in relief as he lowered his shotgun. Then they heard more shouting. "We must hurry!" Citan declared, "for this soldier's friends will arrive shortly!" The team nodded in agreement as they ran back toward the Yggdrasil. "What about chu fuel?" Chu-Chu asked. "Well try to make it to Bledavik without running out," Margie answered. The crew ran aboard. "Where's the fuel?" Sigurd asked. "No time to explain!" Fei shouted, "We need to get out of here, now!" "What's wrong?" Sigurd asked. Then the sound of gunshots were heard as soldiers fired at the Yggdrasil. Sigurd and the crew ran back to the bridge. "Get us out of here, now!" Sigurd ordered. Without hesitation, the Yggdrasil took off and headed for Bleadvik, with very little fuel left.
