Chapter One
Richie and Duncan walked around Sunnydale looking for the immortal. They had both left home to come to Sunnydale and destroy him. He had killed MacLeod's girlfriend in Spain a few centuries ago and he was known to be one of the most dangerous immortals to walk the earth.
Joe had also decided to go along with Duncan but tonight he went over to the Bronze to visit an old friend, who was actually the owner of the Bronze. They had arrived here a few days ago and Joe decided to help out at the club when he wasn't with Duncan looking for the other immortal.
"Well, Mac, I don't see him anywhere."
"Neither do I, but I know he's here," Duncan said, "We have got to find him before he decides to go on a killing spree."
When they neared the museum, Duncan turned around and looked at the young immortal known as Richie Ryan.
"I think we should split up, but be careful this guy is dangerous. Meet me back here at 11:45 so that we can go find Joe."
"Alright, Mac," Richie said and then disappeared into the darkness of the night.
Chapter Two
They had checked the playground but no Buffy. They now neared the Bronze and Xander absolutely hated being with Angel as they tried to find Buffy. Giles had just found a very important prophecy regarding some unusual beings that were going to make an appearance on the Hellmouth soon.
As they turned a corner, Angel suddenly doubled over as an intense pain came over him.
Xander looked at him with a confused expression on his face. "Angel, you okay?"
Richie stood in front of the Bronze and he suddenly felt the presence of another immortal. He walked on with caution and hid his sword behind his back. Angel looked up to see a man heading towards them with some kind of a weapon. He only looked to be around the age of twenty. Xander looked freaked while Angel stood there with a blank expression on his face.
"Uh, Angel, I think this guy is holding something behind his back. It's probably a gun and he's going to shoot us! I didn't think vampires carried guns! with the exception of your ex of course. This really sucks! I too young to die!"
At this point, Angel was tempted to take the opportunity to strangle Xander with his bare hands. Instead, he simply stated that he'll take care of this.
Richie was the first to speak. "I'm Richard Ryan. Who the hell are you?"
"Angel. You however can call me Angelus."
"And I'm scared shitless. Are you just going to tell your life stories or are you two planning on fighting sometime today?"
Richie pulled out his sword and Xander stood there wide-eyed. "Can we say, 'GULP'?"
Chapter Three
Duncan walked cautiously into the Sunnydale cemetery, Draven had always liked being in dark surroundings, especially graveyards. As Duncan neared another headstone, he saw a young girl with short blonde hair perched upon the stone, in her hand she held a sharp wooden object.
Duncan slowly approached her. "Not to be rude or anything but I think you should leave. The cemetery isn't much of a safe place for you to be hanging around in at night."
"Thanks. But believe me, I'm able to take care of myself," She said.
"Somehow, I don't believe you."
"Figures. Nobody ever does." The girl known as Buffy Summers, The Vampire Slayer saw one of the fresh graves move up behind the man, along with two more. "But, you might want to get out of the way."
Duncan looked behind him to see three vampires emerge from their graves. "What the hell?!" Duncan yelled.
"Step aside," She ordered as she whipped out the stake that she had hidden behind her back when he approached her.
Duncan did as she had asked and after she stake one of them, he stood there speechless. Never during his life as an immortal had he ever encountered something like this. When Buffy finished staking the other two she turned her attention back to the man that stood in front of her. A rush of dizziness came over her and she leaned against one of the headstones.
Ever since her and Angel had went into that other realm she had developed a really bad stomach virus, throwing up everyday and getting a dizzy feeling in her head. She didn't bother telling anyone that she was sick.
"Are you all right?" Duncan asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Are you?"
"I don't know. Is what we had just seen what I think it is?" he asked.
"Yeah."
"Vampires?"
"Yeah."
"Vampires," Duncan said in disbelief. Richie and Joe aren't going to believe this one. He turned his attention back to the teenage girl that stood in front of him. "What are you?"
"It's a long story, let's take a walk," Buffy told him. "And what's with the sword?"
"I guess we both have long stories to tell," Duncan replied as they walked out of the cemetery.
Chapter Four
Richie and Angel had been going at each other for the past fifteen minutes and Xander stood there watching the whole fight helplessly. As the fight went on, Xander noticed two figures emerging out of the shadows, one of them holding a sword.
"Hey, Angel, I think it's the other two musketeers," Xander said.
Duncan noticed that it was a vampire that Richie was fighting, but he fell not only Richie's presence but also the vampire's. Since Duncan knew that this vampire wasn't really his own kind he decided to interfere in the fight.
Duncan pulled the vampire off of Richie and raised his sword, ready to chop off his head. Buffy had explained how to kill vampires and about being a vampire Slayer but that's as far as she had gotten when they had noticed a fight. Duncan had explained a little about the immortals.
"Nooo!" Before Duncan could strike, Buffy stepped in front of Angel. "If you want to kill him you'll have to go through me."
"Buffy, get out of the way," Angel ordered as he gently pushed her aside, not wanting to use her as his shield.
"Why are you protecting him?" Duncan asked.
"Because he's one of the good guys," Xander answered for her.
Richie got up off of the ground and looked at Angel. He hadn't seen his face change while they were in the fight. A few moments later, Angel's face took on its human features.
"Mac, what the hell is that?" Richie asked and then turned to look at Buffy who stood next to Duncan. "And who's the babe?"
"I'll explain later Richie," Duncan told him.
"We better get to my Watcher," Buffy suggested.
"Watcher?" Richie asked confused.
"You have Watchers?" Duncan asked.
"Yeah, I do."
"Uh, guys, would you mind filling me in here?" Xander asked.
"Before we talk I need to find Joe," Duncan said.
"Who's Joe?" Buffy asked.
"My Watcher."
Chapter Five
The whole gang sat in the library, along with the other three newcomers, Duncan MacLeod, Joe Dawson, and Richie Ryan. Giles and Angel felt uncomfortable being in the same room with each other. Duncan had definitely noticed this but didn't say anything.
"So, you're both immortals you say," Giles observed.
They had explained everything about the immortals but not about the Watchers. Giles and everyone else explained the whole vampire slaying thing, along with the situation of two Slayers when there's suppose to be one. The other Slayer, Faith, wasn't present in the room at the time of this meeting.
"Yes."
"And who are you?" Giles asked.
"I'm Joe Dawson. Duncan's Watcher."
"I don't believe I've heard of you in the Watcher's Council," Giles told him.
"That's because I'm not part of your council. My council consists of a secret society of men and women that record their observations of other immortals. And each member of our council has a tattoo on their wrist," Joe said, holding up his arm to show them the tattoo.
"I believe so."
"Why are you guys here?" Buffy asked.
"We're here to find an immortal, a very evil and dangerous immortal by the name of Draven," Duncan asked.
"Draven..." Angel immediately recognized the name when the memories came up in his head.
"You know him?" Duncan asked.
"Shortly after I was changed I encountered him. We both did some damage in Europe together when the demon was in control. I had the sudden pain like I did with you and I never fully understood what he was until now," Angel said quietly.
"I have a question," Richie stated. Everyone in the room took their eyes off of Angel and looked back at Richie. "If most vampires are evil and mean, then why is this guy helping you?"
"He has a gypsy curse. He fed upon a gypsy girl a century ago and the elders came up with punishing him by returning his soul," Giles answered.
"Oh."
Duncan was once a gypsy but most of their magicks were lost. "What tribe?" he asked.
"Kalderosh people," Angel answered.
Duncan smiled a bit. "I knew them. They weren't the brightest people that I had ever met."
"So where do you think this.... Draven character could be?" Giles asked, changing the subject.
"I have no idea, but I know he's somewhere in town and he's definitely dangerous."
"Oh, great, so all we have to do is be on the look out for a man who's wearing a trench coat and is carrying a really big sword," Xander quipped.
"Well, I guess that's all we can do. Angel and these two seem to be the only people that can sense him," Giles said.
"O...Kay."
Chapter Six
The next night, Buffy and Willow walked around Sunnydale, looking for the other immortal and maybe a couple of vampires.
"Willow, there's something that I need to tell you. And promise me that you won't freak out," Buffy said.
"It depends on what it is, but I'll try not freak."
"I'm...I'm..."
"You're?"
"I'm pregnant," she finished quickly.
"You're what?!"
"That's right."
"If you don't mind me asking, who's the father?"
"Angel."
"But I thought vampires can't have kids," Willow told her.
"They can't but a few weeks ago, and I didn't tell anyone about this. Do you remember when Giles was talking about portals from different realms opening up on earth?"
"Yeah."
"Well, Angel and I went into another dimension and he was human the demon left his body, and I think you can pretty much figure out the rest yourself."
"Oh boy." Willow couldn't help but freak out. "Does anyone else know? Does Angel know? Does your mom know?"
"No, I haven't told anyone but you."
"Well, do you plan on telling them anytime soon or are you must going to wait until your stomach grows?"
"I'll tell them when I'm ready. I just found out about this yesterday and I'm in a little shock right now so I need some time before I tell anyone else."
"I know," Willow said.
Neither of the two took the time to notice that someone was stalking them from behind. Their stalker had also hidden in the shadows during the encounter between the immortals and theSlayer. He stood close enough that he could see and hear what was going on but couldn't be sensed by another of his kind.
He slowly stepped out of the shadows, watching the Slayer and her friend walk down the street. "This oughta be fun," he said quietly as an evil grin made it's way across his face.
Chapter Seven
Buffy sat in the house watching television, it was late at night and due to the fact that she felt a little sick she couldn't sleep.
There was a knock at the door, hoping that it was Angel she opened it. Right when she opened the door Buffy only had a moment to wander what the strange odor she was suddenly smelling was, before a rag was placed over her nose and mouth. Immediately losing consciousness, she went limp against the intruder.
"Chloroform, it just makes my work easier."
As Willow neared Buffy's house, she saw a stranger struggling to dump Buffy's body into the trunk of his car.
"Hey!" Willow yelled, "Let her go!"
The man turned around and looked at her. "You are one of her friends. Give this message to Angelus for me, *Meet me at the old warehouse on Kelloge tonight. Come alone, if you do not the girl dies," The man said and shut the lid of the trunk.
"Who are you?" Willow asked.
"Draven," he said as he entered his car and began to drive off.
Willow also took off and ran the whole way back to the library where everyone else was.
Chapter Eight
"So are you actually saying that she used a rocket launcher against this Judge dude?" Richie asked.
"Yep."
"Must have been messy," Richie said.
"You got that right. At least you weren't the person that had to clean it up," Xander remarked.
At that point, Willow burst into the library, completely out of breath.
"Willow, what's wrong?" Xander asked as he rushed over to her and helped her into a chair.
"Buffy..." She gasped.
"Is at home sleeping," Xander finished for her.
Willow shook her head violently and then managed to blurt out, "Buffy's in trouble."
Snapping fully alert, Angel asked, "What happened?"
Willow then recounted how she witnessed Buffy's unconscious body being put in the back of a car by a strange man and told Angel the message that the immortal wanted her to give him.
"I better go," Angel told him, right when Willow had started her story Joe and Giles came out of the office to listen.
"You know that this is a trap," Giles told him, "I don't like this."
"Neither do I," Angel said, Angel's eyes were filled with unshed tears. "He could hurt her."
"I know," Duncan said, "But we need to plan this out carefully."
"I say we go in there and kick his sorry ass," Xander said.
"I actually agree with that but Mac is right, we've got to come up with some kind of a plan."
"Yeah, I agree," Willow said, "I just.... I just hope Buffy's okay."
Chapter Nine
Regaining consciousness, Buffy felt disoriented in the dim lighting. Surveying her surroundings, she quickly noticed the dampness that touched the old warehouse. Most importantly, however, she also realized that she was bound to a chair.
"Welcome back, Ms. Summers. Glad you could join me before my little game begins."
Trying to blow some stray hair away from her face, Buffy asked into the darkness, "Who are you? Why am I here? What, you couldn't find a date or something?"
Slowly walking around from behind her so that he could be seen, the immortal answered, "Oh, very funny, Ms. Summers. But, to answer your question, my name is Draven and you're here as bait."
"Bait? For what, you sicko? I don't even know you."
With a snide laugh, Draven replied, "How can you talk to me like that, Buffy, you don't mind if I call you Buffy, do you?"
"Sure, if you want me to rip your heart out and hand it to you."
Laughing once again, Draven simply responded, "Very good. Such spunk. I like that in a prisoner. The usual crying and groveling does become so tedious sometimes." Continuing, he then added, "Now as for why I needed you, it's very simple: you're going to draw your boyfriend here so I can kill him."
Up until now, Buffy was much more angry and scared. Now, however, she was beginning to get frightened.... for Angel. "My boyfriend? Why him?"
"Let's just say that Angelus and I have a history together and I don't like this newly improved one," Draven stepped closer to her. "Now, we're coming to the torturing part. You see, I'm getting a little bored," he said, "I'll be back in a minute."
When he was gone, Buffy struggled against her bonds--with increased urgency.
Chapter Ten
It's been an hour later ever since Buffy had been abducted. Draven had spent most of the hour beating Buffy black and blue.
"It's almost time."
A few moments later he then heard Angel shout, "Draven!"
"Well, Buffy, looks like your soulful boyfriend is just on time," he told her as he walked out of the dark room.
"Draven!"
"Must you be so loud? I heard you the first time."
"Where's Buffy?"
"She's a little tied up at the moment."
"I'm here, now let her go."
"Sorry, can't do that."
"You're a real pain in the ass, aren't you?"
Laughing, Draven said, "You haven't seen anything yet." Pulling out a pistol, he quickly fired a round into Angel's shoulder. The vampire staggered and then ducked behind a crate as additional rounds were fired.
Behind the crate, he bumped into Richie, who noted dryly, "Getting shot sure does hurt like a bitch, doesn't it?"
Angel simply nodded a reply.
Hearing the gun shots in the other section of the warehouse, Buffy started to scream for Angel.
Chapter Eleven
Buffy had managed to get out of the ropes and then she went to find Angel.
"I told you to come alone," Draven remarked, "That's cheating."
"Okay... this Jack Ass has a gun and he's saying that we're cheating. Is it me or is there seriously something wrong with this guy!"
"I think I'd go for the fact that this guy is crazed," Xander remarked as he joined them.
A few moments later, they noticed that he had stopped firing and they knew he was out of bullets.
"Face it Draven, you're sorry ass isn't going to win this one," Richie said he and Angel got up from behind the large crates, leaving Xander behind.
Draven took off running in the other direction with Richie and Angel running after him. Buffy wandered through the warehouse, she could no longer hear the gunshots being fired and it seemed darker inside of the large room.
Buffy heard someone behind her and before she could turn around she felt someone grab her tightly and she also felt the cool blade glide lightly at her stomach. She was too weak to get out of his grasp.
"Follow me," he whispered into her ear.
Chapter Twelve
Richie and Angel stopped in their tracks when they saw Buffy and Draven appear a few feet in front of them.
"Oh no," Richie muttered.
"Let her go," Angel growled and rushed towards them.
"Don't move," Draven ordered as he pressed the sword harder against her stomach. "I wouldn't make a move if I were you, I guess you could say that your girlfriend and your unborn child's life depends on it," he told them.
Angel had a confused expression on his face.
"She didn't tell you, Angelus? She didn't tell you that inside of her is an innocent life that you helped create and may help destroy?" Draven asked, as an evil grin made it's way across his face.
This just made Richie even angrier, not only was he going to kill Angel's girlfriend but his child to.
No one noticed Spike who was standing in the shadows of the room, licking his lips in anticipation. *I'm finally going to get rid of that damn Slayer,* Spike thought to himself.
And then Spike noticed it, "What in the bloody hell?!"
Before either of the two could make a move, Buffy felt Draven's grasp loosen and looked behind her to see.... her mother? It was. Joyce Summers stood there with a crossbow in her hand and next to her was Duncan.
Spike grinned and mouthed the words that came from Joyce's mouth as she said, "You get the hell away from my daughter."
"Wow, what a mother," Richie said and leaned a little towards Angel as he said, "You got your work cut out for you."
"He's all yours, Mr. MacLeod," Joyce told him as she stepped back. The two immortals began to fight.
Angel pulled Buffy towards him and wrapped his arms around her protectively as they watched the immortals duel on.
Chapter Thirteen
Duncan had beaten Draven and had completely decapitated him. Everyone had taken cover when ordered by Richie to do so. Everyone watched in awe as lightening enveloped around Duncan.
Across the room all Xander could manage to say, was, "Wow, this kicks ass! Hey, can you do that again?"
"Is it true?" Angel asked her.
"Yes," Buffy said. Angel wrapped his arms tighter around as he kissed her deeply.
"Ahem..." Buffy and Angel looked up to see Buffy's mother standing a couple of paces in front of them.v
"I think the two of you have some explaining to do," Joyce told them.
"I know," Buffy said.
The three of them walked out of the warehouse to meet with the others.
Chapter Fourteen
The next day, everyone met in the library to say good-bye to the two immortals and their Watcher.
"Well, uh, drop by when you can," Giles said.
"Same with you Rupert," Joe replied.
Cordelia was flirting with Richie while Duncan talked with the two Slayers.
"So, did I miss anything?" Faith asked.
Everyone if the room looked at one another and replied all at once, "NO."
"We'll keep in touch," Joe told everyone as they left the library, Buffy walked with them to the front of the school.
Duncan and Joe walked to the car while Richie stayed with Buffy.
"You know, I would have asked you out if you weren't taken. Angel is a really lucky guy," Richie told her.
"I know."
"I just have one favor to ask."
"What?"
"Would I get my ass kicked if I asked you for a hug?"
"Who do you think is going to kick your ass, me or Angel?"v
"Probably the boyfriend. I noticed how possessive he can be of you."
"Well, I won't tell him," Buffy said as she hugged Richie.
A few moments later, the two let go of each other.
"You guys come back and visit us sometime," Buffy suggested.
"Yeah, anytime I need some action, I'll definitely come down here," Richie said.
Richie went over to the car where Duncan and Joe sat and climbed in. Buffy waved good-bye and headed back into the library.
Chapter Sixteen
Buffy walked back into the library to see her friends sitting around the room staring at her.
"What's with the looks?" Buffy asked.
"Buffy, why didn't you tell us?!" Faith asked. Buffy figured that everyone was mad at her but Faith took her by surprise when she hugged her.
"So, is this baby going to be a half blood sucker?" Xander asked. Willow simply hit him upside the head. "What! what did I say?"
"I was trying to figure out how I was supposed to tell you," Buffy said.
"Well, congratulations Buffy. I know it might, uh, sound a bit shocking hearing that from me after what I felt about you seeing Angel but I am happy for you. Did you tell your mother?" Giles asked.
"Yeah, I was surprised that she had taken it so well. Although, we're still going to have to decide on what to do for college."
"How did you, how did it-?" Buffy simply gave Giles a funny look. "You know what? I don't even want to know," Giles said.
"Good, G-man, I don't want to know either but I can tell you one thing, things aren't going to be the same around here," Xander said.
