Coming Home
Disclaimer: Sadly enough, I don't own them. They're all Joss's and his gang's.
Buffy looked up at her house. Or what was her house. It had been nearly four years since she had fled this place. She took a deep breath and walked up the sidewalk to the front door. Tentatively, she raised her hand and knocked on the door.
She could hear foot steps come down the stairs and was taken aback when an older-looking man opened the door.
"Hello," he said, "How may I help you?"
"I'm looking for Joyce Summers," she answered. "You wouldn't happen to know where she is, would you?"
"Oh, Joyce moved in with a. . .ohh, what is his name? Oh yes! With a Mr. Giles. Not to long ago actually, maybe five months ago."
"Thank you." she said and turned to go.
"Wait! You aren't looking for that young man who lives with them? Angel, I think his name is. If you are, you can find him at the old Crawford home."
Buffy stopped dead in her tracks. Slowly, she turned. "Angel?" she croaked.
"Yes, that's his name. According to my granddaughter, his name is quite appropriate." he chuckled softly. "Well, have a nice search. Goodbye." the man closed the door, and left a dumbfounded Buffy on his frontsteps.
*Mom living with Giles? Angel alive? This is too much to digest.* Buffy could only think of one place to go to vent all this out. The Bronze.
While living in L.A., she had made Whistler give her a false background. With that in tow, she had attended college, and now had a degree in management. After graduation, she decided to come home to the town that held so many wonderful and terrible memories.
She drove a car she had boughten with some extra money she had, to the local club. As usual, it was packed.
A soft song by Sarah McLachlan floated to her ears. She sauntered to the middle of the dance floor and began to sway to the music. She could feel the wondering eyes of some young male attendants watch her. The she felt a stronger gaze. One which stood out among the rest. She looked over to a dark corner where she thought it was coming from. Yes, that was definatly where it was coming from. She walked off the floor, and toward the peircing gaze. As she grew closer, she could see who it was.
"Angel," she almost sobbed. Her legs began to become weak, and she thought she would fall, but she was suddenly enveloped by strong arms.
"Buffy," said, rubbing her back.
Tears filled her eyes and even though she had so many questions, she sighed in contemptment. She put her head on his chest. Then, to her surprise, she heard something. A heartbeat.
She pulled back to see his smiling face. "You're human,"
"The gang returned me from hell thinking it would bring you back. It turned out my body became human, and my soul is permenate."
"Wow." she said.
"Yeah," he agreed, rubbing her cheek with his thumb.
"One question, why are Giles and my mom living together."
"They got married."
"Oh," she said, taking her spot once again on his chest. Then, when she realized what it meant, she jerked back. "What?!?!?" she practically screamed.
"When you left, they found comfort in each other. It's perfectly logical."
"Since when have things on the Hellmouth ever been logical?" she asked.
"Since Willow closed the gate. Of course we still have vampires, and little things like that, but that's no problem."
"This is so perfect," Buffy said.
"Yeah," Angel agreed again. "Buffy?"
"Mmmm?"
"You ready to see you family?"
She smiled. "Yeah."
She took his hand and then together they walked outside. Into a new future.
