"...And then he said that Bessie came back to him." She told her friend as she painted her toenails. "It’s just so funny because when I asked who Bessie was he said she was his favorite cow in his herd." She stuck the nail polish brush back into the bottle and her as her and Willow started to laugh their heads off.

"He...loves a...cow!" Willow exclaimed as she and Buffy were in hysterics over how Riley ‘dumped’ Buffy. After their laughing subsided they went back to their conversation. "Before I forget someone called you while you were out." Willow started to blow on her toenails after she had finished putting on the topcoat.

"Really?" Buffy asked her friend, and started to shake her bottle of base coat for her other foot, "Who?" she opened the bottle and started to apply it to her toenails.

"Angel." Willow said, and waited for her friends reaction. Buffy’s head shot up and she dropped the brush on her clean quilt.

"What did he say?" she asked, with some anticipation but mostly curiosity, as she picked up the brush and stuck it in the bottle. The last time she had talked to Angel was when he came to Sunnydale to apologize for yelling at her, and that was when he totally kicked Riley Fish Boy Fin’s butt. (Evil laugh)

"He just told me to get you to call when you got in. That’s all he would tell me." Willow answered. "He also gave me the number too. It’s lying by the phone." she said gesturing to the place where the little piece of paper was lying.

"Should I call him now?" Buffy asked. "Or wait ‘till my nails are done?" Her friend looked up at her again and gave her a ‘right now’ look. "Right, it was probably important, I’ll just..." gesturing to the phone she got up and picked up the phone. After she dialed the number there were two rings then someone picked up the phone.

"Angel Investigations we help the hopeless." it was Cordelia. She had heard that she went out of town for a while, oh well.

"Hey, Cordy. How are you today?" she asked, not really caring, but she hadn’t seen her in a long time, so it was procedure to ask about how past friends are.

"I’m fine, what’s up?" she asked. "Do you want to talk to Angel?"

"Yeah, if he’s around." Buffy told her former classmate.

"Just a sec, I’ll get him." Buffy heard the phone get put down and Cordelia yelling out Angel’s name, also yelling out that she was on the phone. She heard some muffled speaking then finally he picked up the phone.

"Hello." he greeted her. He knew that she was just returning his call so there wasn’t a surprise that she was on the phone. "Hey, Angel. Um, Willow said you called and I was out. What did you want to talk to me about?" Buffy asked, her heart beating a million times a minute.

"Yeah, we need to talk. I need to show you something that you might want to see. Is it possible for you to come here?" he asked her. "Or do you have classes?"

"No. I don’t have any classes for three more weeks. It’s the holidays right now. Do you want me to come tonight?" probably tonight was the best time for her, but she didn’t know what he was doing tonight.

"Ok. Do you need a ride? I could get Cordelia to come pick you up." he looked at his secretary, who was shaking her head and mouthing ‘no’, but he gave her a look that made his point clear, and she sighed in defeat, and mouthed ‘fine’.

"No, It’s ok, Angel. I can just get Xander and Anya to drive me. Even though I’d be risking my sanity." She didn’t know if he knew Anya, but it didn’t really matter. "Should I pack some stuff, of will you need me more then one day?" she asked. Then realized that, that statement could be taken the wrong way. "You know for help." she corrected herself.

"If you need to you can stay at my place for the night. I’m not sure how long getting this information is gonna take. But I need your help for just about everything."

"Ok. I’ll be there is a few hours, bye, Angel." she heard him say bye and she hung up the phone. She faced a curious Willow and said, Buffy sighed and said "I need a ride to L.A."

Before she knew it, she was on the road with the most known couple for bickering about anything. She was glad she had brought her diskman to drown out their incessant arguing. She put in her Trisha Yearwood CD, turned it to track three, and sat back to listen to it.

//If there ever was a time,
That I could use your trust in me.
And if there ever was a reason,
For me to get down on my knees.

And if there’s anyway (if there’s anyway)
That you could love me anyhow.
If you ever had much faith in me,
I could use a little now.
\\

These lyrics made her wonder if Angel did still love you anymore. I mean, they had been apart for a long time, he might have found someone new, like she did. She sighed, it’s not like he wouldn’t find someone else. He is so hot.

//When I said that it would suit me fine,
If you were out of sight and out of mind.
That wasn’t me talking,
That was my wounded pride.

When I said I didn’t want your love,
And you were no one I was thinking of.
Believe me baby, I lied
\\

She said all those things to him. What was she thinking? Oh, right, she was thinking that she would be better off without him and that Riley would make her happy. Give me a break.

//Well I got no good excuses,
But I got plenty of regrets.
And I wish this was some bad dream,
I could wake up and forget.

‘Cause you’re the only one, (you’re the only one)
I could never stand to lose.
You’re all I’ve ever wanted,
And baby that’s the truth
\\

Ok, that finalized it, she was mad at herself. When she listened to this song she never thought of Angel. Now that she was going to him, she couldn’t stop thinking about him. But that was ridiculous, she just broke up with a guy that she loved, well sorta, she should be grieving.

//When I said that it would suit me fine,
If you were out of sight and out of mind.
That wasn’t me talking,
That was my wounded pride.

When I said I didn’t want your love,
And you were no one I was thinking of.
Believe me baby I lied.

When I said it would suit me fine,
If you were out of sight and out of mind.
That wasn’t me talking,
That was my wounded pride

When I said I didn’t want your love,
And you were no one I was thinking of.
Believe me baby, I lied,
Believe me baby, I lied.
\\

The song was over. It didn’t take her very long to realized that this song was her new favorite, beside Wild Horses. She should have brought that CD too, but she forgot it, damn. Oh well. She took of her head set and was surprised that Xander and Anya weren’t fighting. "Hey guys." she greeted. "What time is it?"

Anya looked at her watch. "It’s seven o’ clock." she told everyone. They had to get her a digital watch because it was impossible to teach an ex demon how to tell time on a standard watch.

"Thank you." after looking out the window at the dimming light she opened her book and started to read.

Buffy had heard somewhere that reading helping to make time fly, well that statement was true. Before she knew it Xander was helping Buffy to get her bags out of the car and up the steps. "Man, Buff." He exclaimed, "What do you have in here, bricks?" he whined.

"I’ll take ‘em from here, thanks for the ride, Xand." she said giving him a hug. That made him smile, after all this time he still had the hots for her.

"Any time, Buff. I’ll talk to ya soon." he waved and walked back to the car. And as usual Anya was whining because he hugged Buffy. She just smiled and picked up her bags, they weren’t heavy it just had a change of clothes and a shirt and pajama bottoms to sleep in, and some makeup, Xander was just being Xander. She slung the bag over her shoulder and walked into the building that looked brand new, well the other one got blown up so of course he needed a new business building. When she got inside she pulled out the piece of paper that had the floor and office number on it. She made her way to an elevator and press the ‘^’ button. As she waited for the elevator to open she started to wonder what Angel need help with. When the door opened she was surprised to see who was standing there, Cordelia (I bet you people thought it would be Angel).

"Hi, Buffy." Cordelia chirped. "I was just heading home. Angel asked me to stay and file, but I really don’t want to be here for you’re little reunion." with that she walked toward the exit. The elevator door was about to close with Buffy shook out of her daze and jumped in before it did.

Upstairs, Angel could hear the elevator and could sense that Buffy was near. "Here it goes." he mumbled. (Don’t worry readers you’ll find out what he needs help with) He didn’t really like his new office because it didn’t have any presence of Buffy at all, but that was going to change. Even though she was just staying for a night and a day, it still would be more livable. He could sense her closer, and the elevator stopped, so that means she was on her way here. He heard the office door open, and as if on cue the phone rang. ‘Great’ he thought.

He picked it up, "Angel Investigations we help the hopeless." he said into the phone. "Speaking." there was a long pause and in the pause Buffy walked into his office. He looked up at her and told her with him eyes that he would be off in a second. "Yes, Mr. Nabbit, I do have your file." there was another pause. "Ok. I’ll see you tomorrow night then. Bye." then he hung up the phone and stood up. "Sorry about that. How are you?" he asked.

"I’m fine. So what’s up?" she asked as she walked toward his desk and put her bag down.

"We’ve been called to the Prophesiers. They want us to report to them as soon as possible. That’s one of the reasons I called." he said, not taking his eyes off hers.

"Ok. Lets go then. It’s possible now. And when we get back you can tell me what the other reasons that you phoned me are." She said. "So are we just gonna stand here, come on." then she walked out of his office. He shook out of his daze and followed her. And together they headed out. The sun had just set when they stepped out of the building.

When they got to the entrance to the Prophesiers he stopped and turned to her. "Ok, these people might look extremely familiar, so don’t be alarmed." she looked at him quizzically.

"What do you mean? They look like people we know, or they just have one of them faces?" she joked. She saw that he was serious, "Ok, I am completely without alarm warning, lets go in. The door was wooden and had carvings on it, obviously from the past. "Wow, if the door is this cool then I can only imagine what it’s like inside." She wasn’t joking.

Angel smiled this time and went up to what looked like a retinal, or eye, scanner. "I just need to get us in, just a second." he put his eyes up to the glass. High technology for people that just tell the future? What is the world coming to? She was about to giggle when a large voice boomed.

"We Gatekeepers sense another being in the threshold." then it quieted. That obviously meant her, because she was the only other being on the room.

Angel turned to face her, "I think they want to scan you’re soul too before we can get in." she nodded and walked over to where Angel was. "Just put you’re eyes up against the glass and wait until you see the red light scan them." she stepped up the glass and the red light scanned them. Then the voice came again.

"Access granted." it boomed and the door opened.

Angel took Buffy’s hand, "Remember, these being look very familiar." he reminded her.

"Um, Angel, one question. Why the eyes?" she asked. It just seemed weird that there wasn’t any kind of incantation that they had to perform.

"The eyes are the windows to your soul." Angel explained. "The Powers find it easier to see into your soul though your eyes, the through your voice."

"Oh." she simply said. How is it that he knew all this stuff? When they stepped into the room behind the door, Buffy gasped. It was beautiful. It wasn’t really a room at all. It looked like they were in space. There were stars surrounding them and there was just a catwalk of fog that they were walking on. Angel didn’t really look fazed by all this. He has probably been here more then once or twice. She follow the path with her eyes and found that the ten feet wide path leads to three steps or cloud. Beyond that there’s a large plateau of fog and cloud, and sitting in two ornately carved wooden chairs, that were on their own little plateau, was... she froze, and stopped in her tracks.

"Uh, Angel? Why do they look exactly like us?" the two people were wearing all white and the female that looked exactly like Buffy, had her hair down with white flowers pinning back her long bangs of her straight golden blond hair, and was wearing a long white gown that flowed in an invisible breeze. And the male, you guess it, looked exactly like Angel. He had his hair in the usual way and was wearing a with sweatshirt and white pants, and his feet were covered by the fog. The two were holding hands on the females armrest, and watch Buffy and Angel.

"I told you they would look familiar. Come on, they hate waiting." she gave him a look and started walking toward their doubles. Once they had walked up the first three steps and were standing at the foot of the other set, Angel stopped, so Buffy did too. Angel kept silent, waiting for their mirror images to speak.

"Hello." said Angel2. He had the same voice as the Angel she knew. "As you know my name is Angel Resendes, and this is my lovely wife, Buffy Resendes." he said gesturing to Buffy2.

"We have been waiting for you." Buffy2 said smiling at her past self. "We’ve called you here for a reason." she looked at them, they weren’t even holding hands. She realized that her she didn’t get back with Angel until later on.

Angel looked at them, he knew these beings were them in the future. But he had no idea when he and Buffy would be able to get back together without risking any lives, "We have answered your call. What is it you want with us?" he asked them. Buffy remained silent.

The male was the one to speak, "We have called you here because this is what happens to every generation of Slayer and Vampire that fall in love. Every tenth generation another Slayer and Vampire are born. If they find each other, they fall in love." he explained and waited for his wife to finish.

"We are a generation of that pattern." the female continued. "We are here to show you your destiny."

"Our destiny?" Buffy asked. "That doesn’t sound at all corny." she said rolling her eyes. Buffy Summers, always being sarcastic in the wrong situation.

"Young Slayer. You have no idea what we are trying to tell you." Buffy put her hands on her hips and looked at Buffy2 expectantly. "We are giving you a shortcut chance at being together, because we are tired of waiting."

Angel spoke up, "You’re saying that you are our future?" he was hoping they’d say yes. That would mean that he would marry Buffy and they would have a life together, even though they might have to sit in chairs for the rest of their lives.

"Yes. We were just like you two in life. We found each other, went through tough times and then got back together after the obstacles were vanquished." Angel2 answered. "Resendes is your last name, is it not Angel." he asked.

Angel nodded. Buffy had a question, "So how do we get where you are? It seems that we can’t really be together or he’ll...well... you know, lose his soul."

"I believe that your Angel and answer that." Buffy2 answered. "We can’t speak any longer. Come to us when you need help, good luck to you both." then a cloud of fog surrounded Buffy and Angel and they were outside the room again. They both realized that while that were in the cloud they started to hold hands.

Buffy realized right away that he was warm and not cool like he usually is. He was human. She gasped and grabbed his wrist checking for a pulse. When she found one she looked up into his eyes and a tear escaped down her cheek. "Angel..." she whimpered. He brought a hand up to her cheek and wiped away the tear.

"I know exactly how you feel." he said and leaned down to capture her lips in a passionate kiss. She pressed her body against him and returned the kiss wholeheartedly. It had been so long since they had kissed like this. Almost two whole years. She let go of his hand and placed it on his shoulder and he used that hand to caress the skin on the nape of her neck. They continued to make out for a while longer, just to catch up on lost time. When they finally broke away to catch their breath, "How long have you been human?" she asked still trying to catch her breath, their lips about ten centimeters apart.

Angel smiled, still gasping a little for breath, "About a week or so." he answered. "I heard you had a boyfriend, so didn’t think you’d really want to know." he explained himself.

She almost laughed at that. "My ‘boyfriend’ is now my ‘ex boyfriend’." she told him, "He fell in love with a cow named Bessie and she came back to him. So he sent me a dumpogram. Only it didn’t really bother me that much because it was so ridiculous." she giggled at the look on his face.

"You’ve got to be kidding me." He answered. "He’d choose a cow over you? That boy has got more then a few screws lose." she giggled again.

"He was probably dropped on his head when he was a baby." she said smiling a nodding her head.

"Repeatedly." they both said at the same time.

Buffy put her arms around his stomach and rested the side of her head of his chest, listening to his heartbeat. She sighed in contentment. "Let’s go back to my apartment." Angel said. "And I can tell you how I turned human." she looked up at him, and kissed his once.

"Sure." she answered and took his hand, and they headed up the stairs hand in hand.

"Yes, Will, it’s true." she told her best friend over the phone. "Yeah, and apparently they sent one of their kids and she, like, threw some strange dust on him and disappeared." she paused as Willow said her reaction. "Uh huh. He’s human forever and he has his vampy powers too, which is an extra perk." Buffy smiled. She flopped down on Angel’s leather couch with his cordless. "No, Will, we’ve been innocent, so far." she giggled and on the other end so did Willow. "He’s just on the shower right now." there was a pause as Willow spoke. "Willow." Buffy said acting to be shocked. Buffy heard the shower turn off. "Oh, gotta go Will. I’ll talk to you later. Bye." Willow said bye and she pressed the ‘off’ button just as Angel came out of the bathroom, clad only in a dark blue towel. "Hi." she greeted, as he slipped on one of his silk shirts.

"Hi." he answered and went into his room and put on his boxers and pants. Then came and joined his girlfriend on the couch. He smiled as she got up and sat on his lap.

"I’m getting tired, and I was thinking that we could go to bed." she said, looking deep into his eyes.

"Sounds good to me." he answered and slipped his arms under her and carried her into his bedroom.

The next morning in Sunnydale, Willow was telling everyone where Buffy was. "She’s with Angel. He called her last night saying he needed her help with something. That thing was to get into see the Prophesiers. They wanted to see both of them." she explained.

Giles perked up. "Prophesiers? Why would they go and see them? he" asked. "In my experience no one sees them unless they have the interest of them.

"Yeah. Well they look exactly like Buffy and Angel. Actually they are them. Buffy didn’t explain the whole thing, but her and Angel are going to be the Prophesiers when they die." Willow told Giles, Xander, Anya, Dawn, Olivia, Tara, and Spike.

"Cool." Dawn said. (Dawn is the only thing that I picked out of the spoilers).

Buffy and Angel were lying together under the shade of a tree in the park. Angel was lying on his back and Buffy was had her head resting on his stomach while reading her newest issue of TEEN. "Angel?" she asked.

"Hmm?"

"When were you born?"

He smiled, "September sixth." he answered.

"Cool." she said and got up and laid down beside him showing him the book. "It says here that Virgo and Scorpio are a love match." she pointed out to him on the page.

"Well for once I would have to agree with a magazine." he said. She giggled and stretched up and gave him a kiss.

"I love you." she said sincerely.

"I love you, too." Angel answered and they started to kiss again. When they broke away, he said. "If I ever leave you again... kill me, please, because I’d probably be insane." she giggled.

"Deal." she agreed, and they started another make out session.
