All New Buffy:
There's Just Something About Him

Monique sat across from Angel. They were talking and laughing and having a good time on their, well technically, first date. It was like they had know each other for ever, as they chatted about Kyle and Danielle, Monique’s friends. They were getting into nick names when she noticed something, "You know," Monique said, "We haven’t figured out a nick name for you." stirring her drink with her straw.

Angel smiled at her and answered, "I had a lot of nick names when Xander was here. He used to call me dead boy, and freak and all sorts of weird, but colorful names." he said grinning at her the whole time. "Buffy used to call be different nick names to describe my personality. Like, Cryptic guy, and Stealth guy. It depended on how I approached her while she was on patrol or when I told her about trouble." he looked down at his drink and took as sip from it.

She did the same and asked, "Well, what do you want to be called?" looking at him curiously.

He just chuckled lightly, "Angel, is fine with me." he answered her, amused. He took another sip from his drink.

She looked at her watch. Groaning she said "I need to patrol. Or Wesley will have my head." she slid from her chair.

"So soon?" she nodded and he got up reluctantly and put on his black duster.

She sighed, "Yeah. Wesley’s on this big kill-all-evil trip. So therefore, patrol, patrol, patrol." she grabbed her coat and put it on. "Well this was fun. We talked and danced. It was... fun."

"Yeah, it was." he agreed, chuckling at her use of words.

She smiled wider at him. "So it would probably be fun again. Maybe next weekend, we could go bronzing together." she brightened. "Oh, double date, with Danny and Skip." she suggested.

"Yeah, sure, why not." he answered. He had come to know Monique’s friends by their nick names and their real names. He was even calling Monique, Minnie. But not that often.

"Great." she said and gestured towards the exit door. "Do you want to come patrolling with me?" she asked hopefully. She liked when he came with her. Because when he did, she always got a good night kiss before she went into the house.

"I got nothing to do tonight." he said and took her hand and together they walked out the door. Once outside, Monique breathed in the fresh air of the chilly night. They walked toward the first site of her patrol. Continuing their conversation on Angel’s past and Buffy, and her friends and Buffy’s friends, and just stuff.

"So how was your date?" Danielle asked excitedly. "Did it have smoochiness?" she asked with a big dreamy smile on her face. Danielle was a sucker for romance and lustful relationships.

Monique smiled dreamily and faced the ground, looking back up again she said, "It was so fun, Danny. It was like we knew all about each other and what the other liked. You know how I like to have sweet good night kisses, not those big lustful ones, not until we have been on a fourth date. That’s my rule, or the guy just seems to desperate, you know? But he is so romantic and nice and fun. He can say the weirdest things and make me laugh." she sighed and looked at the ground ahead of them as they walked to their normal bench to meet Skip, and their new groupette, Caitlin, nick name Katie.

"So there’s sparkage?" she asked in her anxious way. "I know that you guys have only been on one real date, but, is there?"

"Yeah, I really like him. There’s just something about him that makes me know that he’s a good guy to spark about." she answered. "It must be that, Slayer sense, huh?" she countered.

"Yeah. Must be." Monique answered. Just then they reached the bench and there was Skip and Katie talking and grinning and laughing at each other. They walked up to them, and Caitlin was the first to notice, and waved. Monique could see the jealousy in Danielle’s eyes. "Hey Katie, what’s up?" Monique greeted them cooly.

Katie looked up at her and said, "Hey, Minnie. I was just talking to Skip about you guys. He said he’s know you since the beginning of your year here." she said trying to make conversation, but failing miserably.

"Yeah." Danielle said. "Me and Kyle have been dating since the beginning of last summer." she said proudly. "So, Katie. That guy that you were lusting over yesterday... did you talk to him?" she asked excitedly. There goes her little nick in her nerves again.

Caitlin just looked at the ground and shook her head. Monique was a little annoyed by this. "You mean, we set you up to talk to him and you chickened?" she asked, getting a little impatient.

"I was distracted by his eyes and I just tripped over my own tongue. The best that I managed was a few vowel sounds, and then I had to leave." she countered, defending her choice.

Monique decided to not make a big deal over it and smiled. But Danielle was a different story. She worked long and hard..well not exactly, but she did a lot of work to get her a chance to talk to him and she choked? "I think that I will take this opportunity to say, you idiot. That guy was really looked forward to meeting you, or so I heard while he was talking to his friends. I mean, Jesse really did like you. He wanted to meet you like I wanted to meet Skip in fifth grade, but never got the chance." she just sighed and looked at her like she was embarrassed of her. "Guess what, you’re on your own now." then she stalked off and disappeared into the school.

Kyle, Caitlin and Monique were both extremely shocked. But Ship was the first the say anything, "Wow. I’ve heard of PMS before, that was ridiculous." she cracked.

Caitlin was looking at the ground. "It’s ok," Monique soothed, "she didn’t mean that. She’s probably reeling that ugly green monster." she smiled and Caitlin appreciated her attempt to make her feel better.

She nodded and raised her head to face Monique. "Thanks." she said.

Skip looked at his mickey mouse watch and gasped. "Oh man, I am so dead. Mr. Cobar is going to kill me." he looked up at the girls. "So are we bronzing tonight?" he asked.

"I’m in," Minnie answered, casually. "Caitlin?"

"Yeah, me too." she said, nodding her head in mock triumph. "Well I gotta get to class." Skip said hurriedly.

Then they all said their good byes and good lucks and they went off to do there regular paper airplane making.

Monique and Caitlin sauntered into the library of the rebuild of Sunnydale High after it was burned down be the explosion from the mayor’s slaying. They looked as though they didn’t even know what they were really walking on as they walked over to sit at the table. The hell mouth. The place where all the evil demons come from to destroy the world. But Monique had an advantage, they didn’t know there was a new Slayer in town yet. All the vampires that she has faced, are dusted. She just sat down left leg over right, and waited for Wesley to come in and lecture her so she could ignore him. Caitlin did the same. She had agreed to come patrolling with her that night so they could hit the Bronze before sacking a sleep over at Monique’s house.

Just as Monique thought that maybe Wesley forgot about their little meeting he hurried into the library from his office. "Ah, good, Monique. I’ve been waiting for you. You will go to the Robertson Memorial Graveyard and seek out this demon." he handed her a picture of a really ugly looking demon.

It had pale pink skin, and in the place of hair it had tentacles that were the same color as it’s skin. It had a very weird ensemble of clothes, brown ragged crop shirt and brown crop short like looking skirtie thing.

"I have to hunt this thing? Excuse me, but, I don’t think so. I’m a vampire Slayer, not a Slayer of slimy things from beyond the hell mouth. Sorry to disappoint you." she said handing the picture the Caitlin, who was hinting she wanted to see it.

"This is a Alcala demon. And you will hunt this demon and kill it. It’s not that vicious, and you will be able to kill it by a simple knife through it’s heart. A Slayer is just what it says it is. She is the one woman in all the world that can fight the forces of darkness. Believe me this creature is a force of darkness, it’s a four winged soul killer. The only warning I have to offer is don’t let it touch you with it’s wings." Wesley told her. He was known to make a long answer short.

Caitlin looked at the picture more closely. "I don’t see any wings. she" reported.

Wesley took a deep breath and let it out. "The demon hides it’s wings in it’s back. Draws them it when not in use. But if it’s wings touch you, you may not live to see what it does." he warned again.

Monique picked at her nails, "Ok, got it, Robertson Memorial Cemetery, don’t let it touch me with it’s big bad wings, slay it with a knife. I only got one question." she said.

"What?" he asked in his British way.

"Where did you get that ugly tie?" she asked, obviously grossed out. Caitlin just laughed, she wasn’t much for speech.

The Alcala demon prowled the street looking for a good kind soul to eat. She was lurking in the shadows when she saw a very attractive looking man walking along the sidewalk. Hands in his pockets and a broody frown on his face. "A perfect prey." she concluded and followed him. She could tell he had a good kind soul, the best kind.

Angel snapped out of his brooding daze and realized that someone was following him. He put all his vamp senses of overdrive and listened for the location of his stalker. It wasn’t human, and it wasn’t a vampire, a demon. That was the only thing that Angel could think that it was. He kept on walking, acting as though he didn’t even notice, to see if this shadow hiding demon would show itself.

Alcala chuckled softly and continues to follow her prey. This one was either extremely stupid, or incredibly smart. But an Alcala demon had all sense of whimsy, so went with extremely stupid. It crept up closer and up behind him.

It was surprised when Angel spun around to face it and knocked it to the ground. It’s wings were just about to spread. "An Alcala." he whispered. "What’s an... oh no, Monique." he said worriedly and ran off. He knew that only a Slayer could kill this thing. But he knew something that the others didn’t know. He had to find Monique, she would probably be in the Robertson Memorial Graveyard by now. So he sped off to go find her as fast at he could.

"Here, Alcala! Here boy!" Monique called in her sing song voice. She had just got there so knew that she was far from packing it in. She just walked throughout the graveyard, looking like she didn’t have a care in the world. Then she heard a twig snap behind her, she froze and whipped out her knife. She spun around to come face to face with Angel. "Wow, it’s just me." he assured her.

"Don’t sneak up on me like that in a graveyard. I should have known you were there. I get a weird feeling inside me." she admitted. She paused and they starred at each other, Angel suddenly forgot why he had sought her out. "Next time you want to do that, whistle of hum, or even yodel, just..." she faltered and walked closer to him, and he to her, "Anyway, forget about that. Why are you here?" she asked him, as they continued to move closer, very slowly.

"I wanted to tell you something about that demon Wesley sent you after. And why are you alone? I thought that your new friend Caitlin was coming." he asked.

Monique and him were right in front of each other now. "Mr. Sophisticated said that it would be to dangerous." she and him were close enough to put their arms around each other now. She rolled her eyes at the memory of Wesley telling her and Caitlin that she had to go alone. "So, what was this thing you wanted to tell me?" she asked, not really noticing that he had slipped his arms around her waist. "Because I know all the essentials about it. I kill it with a knife, don’t let it’s wings touch me, simple." she said.

Angel shook his head. "Not that simple." he told her cryptically. She tilted her head to the side and waited for his warning. "I’ve seen an Alcala demon before. It’s goes after Slayers. Only a Slayer can kill it. And if it kills a Slayer, it would have enough power to open a door to Hell." he continued.

"Oh, so if it sucks out my soul it would open a door to Hell, and ever thing on earth will go to Hell?" she asked, trying to get more backstory on the subject.

Angel nodded. Neither noticed that they had their arms around each other and there was barely any distance between them. There was no distance between them. They were basically hugging each other. "So that would be the literal sucked into the Hell? Neat." she cracked."

Angel smiled. They were slowly closing the distance between their mouths. And neither was moving to stop it. They moved closer and closer. Then when there lips brushed against each other and closed over each other, they didn’t even notice that the dreaded Alcala demon was watching them. Then that sweet little innocent kiss grew into a total make out session. They went on and on, until those that needed breath had to break it off. Monique had to take a breath so pulled away slowly and took a much need one. "I think that was grounds to say... wow." she said, still panting a little. They both continued to smile. The Angel noticed the Alcala demon had recovered from it’s unconscious that he left it in.

"Um, Monique, I think there we’re gonna want to uncouple to fight Alcala." she understood right away, her eyes growing wide to tell him she did.

They uncoupled and Monique turned and kicked the demon on the side of it’s head, before it had a chance to grab her, and whipped out her knife. "You know," she said raising the knife to stab the thing. "I thought that this was going to be much harder, but," she stabbed the thing in the heart and said, "I guess this works for me." the demon screamed a watery scream and slowly melted into a puddle of pale pick goo.

Monique got up and dusted herself off, then she turned and faced her new boyfriend. Angel only looked mildly surprised at how quick it took. "Well, like Brit-Boy said, it’s not that vicious." she took his hand as she said this and pulled him out of the graveyard.

"Well I guess you’ve covered it. Are we going to the Bronze?" he asked.

"Yeah, the gang is going to meet us there. Skip, Danny, and Katie are waiting." then they both walked hand in hand toward the Bronze, swinging their hands slightly.

After introducing Caitlin the Angel, Monique and him went out on the dance floor to do some much earned slow dancing together.

//Close your eyes,
And see me though your soul.
I cannot believe what,
A treasure, I have just found
//

They song went on and Monique and her new vampire boyfriend were holding each other tightly and moving to the music, though not really listening.

He remembered that last time he saw Buffy at his mansion home and smiled. He silently thanked her for reincarnating herself for him. What an angel.

Monique’s eyes were shut and she just followed Angel’s lead as they danced. She had never felt like this before. With Alcala finished with, they had the rest of the night until her curfew to be together. She had other boyfriends when she had gone to Medale High in L.A. but this one was different. She couldn’t quite place it. As they continued to dance through the rest of the song she thought, There’s just something about him.
