Summary: Set six years after ‘Graduation’, Buffy tries dealing with her loss.
Rating: PG-12
Everyday. Everyday she dealt with her pain. Never lessened or went away, just stayed the same. She thought somehow, some way, that time would heal her wounds. But it did just the opposite. Every morning she woke up with the hurt in her heart and every night she went to bed with it. She could never escape it. It betrayed her, making her see his face everywhere she turned. Every man she thought it was him. Every phone call hoping to hear his voice on the other end. But every time her hopes crashed down to reality. He was never coming back, she had to deal. She just didn’t know how.
She couldn’t talk to anybody, because she really didn’t have anybody left. Oh, she talked to Giles and her mom on the phone once and awhile, but nothing is the same. The only way she could work out her aggressions was slaying and that’s exactly what she intended to do.
It was late, she was tired and she had just dusted her third vampire that night, when bumped into a gravestone. She glanced down slightly, suddenly she felt her heart shatter and her breath became none.
"Angel." she wailed. She couldn’t hold her emotions in check anymore, she let out a heart-wrenching sob. She threw herself on the grave and weeped into the early hours of dawn.
"Buffy?" called a soft voice. She almost didn’t hear it, for her sorrow was so loud, but some how she did. She glanced up and looked around. Her eyes fell upon a silhouette in the shadows. She knew instantly who it was.
"Angel?" she croaked. She staggered up and wiped her runny eyes. The figure did not move from the darkness.
"I can’t stay long, but I had to see you once more." he replied.
"Where are you going?" Buffy trembled. She saw him point up towards the sky. Her breath caught.
"I never stopped loving you. Everyday I wanted to go back, to be with you again. But it was for the best."
"How did you die?" Buffy asked softly.
"It was my time."
"I miss you." she whispered. She felt him caress her face. Her tears flowed like a river.
"I’ll always miss you. But I’ll always be with you. Everyday. And I’ll go on loving you everyday. And when it’s time for you to come with me, I’ll be waiting. But, please, stop hurting, there is no reason to hurt. I’m with you. I’m loving you. Always and everyday." His lips brushed hers and he faded away. Her heart warmed and through her tears she smiled. She knew what he said was true. Her heart was now stamped with his words
"Always and everyday."
