Prologue
Time: About four months after Buffy's battle with Angel and Buffy leaving Sunnydale.
Scene: A broken down warehouse
Place: Seattle, Washington
"Spike, this is where you go down. It's the end for you," Buffy spoke as she punched Spike in the jaw. He returned her punch by kicking her in the side and onto the floor. Buffy tried squirming away as Spike got closer.
"Are you sure the tables aren't turned?" he replied in his British accent. He kicked her in her side again, making her grab her ribs. He gave her one last kick, which made her gasp for air.
"I'm sure," she responded coldly. Buffy grabbed his ankle, pulling it towards her. Spike fell back, banging his head on a table. Buffy got up with all her strength and walked over to where he was now laying. "You know," the slayer spoke up, "Washington doesn't meet the qualification for out of the country."
"Well, I never expected you to track me down, either." Spike replied. He couldn't get up, especially with the slayer right in front of him, with a stake in hand.
"You've lived for a couple of hundred years, I think you've had more than your share of fun," with that last line, Buffy put the stake through his heart. "This time, I finished you. No more games." Spike turned into dust.
"Well, that was easier than I expected. It took a little time, but I'd say it was well worth it. What else could a slayer want?" Buffy asked herself. "All the work practically done for her," she smiled at the thought. "No more Dru, either. She stayed out a past her bed time," her voice was full of happiness. She fulfilled her duty, for now at least. "Now, I go back to Sunnydale, the Hellmouth. Can't wait to slay more vampires." her voice full of sarcasm, but the happiness still showed.
As Buffy left, Dru appeared from behind old boxes. "She killed my Spike," Dru whimpered. "No matter," she shrugged it off. "Spike will be back and that mean 'ol slayer is going to pay." she smiled and carefully put Spikes' ashes in a pouch.
Scene: Sunnydale High School
Place: Sunnydale, California
It was late in the afternoon, with school still in session. Buffy stood in front of her old school for awhile, just staring at it. She was almost hypnotized by it.
"It's been such a long time since I've been here. I guess I'm ready to face everyone. I mean the worst they can do is send me away," she then realized that she just left everyone. "I just left everyone. Left them to fend for themselves. I just put all the responsibility on them." her voice was full of sadness. She really wanted to see Giles, Willow, Xander, even Cordelia, but most of all, her mom. She really wanted to see Angel, but knew she couldn't.
"It wasn't his fault. I shouldn't have killed him. Angel didn't do anything wrong." her voice was low. "Angel didn't deserve to go the hell. Angelus, but not Angel. All the things that Angelus did wrong, Angel had to pay," Buffy let her voice trail off. She slumped down to the ground and cried for a few moments.
"Buffy, get a hold of yourself. You're about to see all the people that you love. You wouldn't want red eyes, now." she told herself.
Buffy entered the school. She slowly walked down the long hallways. "I remember I used to walk down these halls everyday, all the time. I was always so cheerful. Now, I'm a wreck," she a looked down at herself. "At least I look decent," she laughed, but only she heard it. She tossed her bag over her shoulder. She finally reached the library. Buffy looked at the sign on the door. It read: Closed for reshelving. She licked her chapped lips and smiled.
"How many times is he going to use that excuse? People must think that we get new books every day. Well, I hope Giles won't be disappointed in me."
Buffy opened the library doors. It was empty. No one was in there. "We're closed today, please come back," Giles said as he popped up from behind a book case, with a book in hand.
"Well, I'm new here and I was told to come to the library to get my text books." Buffy said, trying to mimic her old voice when she had first come to Sunnydale.
That had caught Giles's attention. He looked up from his book. "Buffy," he almost whispered. "Are you okay? Wh...where did...did you go?" he quickly went down the stairs to greet her.
"I'm in perfect, tip-top condition. As for where did I go," Buffy looked down, ashamed of not telling them where she went. The slayer lifted her head back up and looked Giles. "I went looking for Spike. I killed him and Drusilla stayed out past her bedtime," she wanted to tell Giles more, but Willow came into the library.
"Buffy," Willow said in a whisper. She held on to her books, tightly.
"Why is my name always in a whisper? I mean you could scream my name and drop your books. Or at least no squeeze them to death," Buffy said with sarcasm and a smile on her face.
Willow loosened her grip. "Giles, I'm not seeing things, right?" she asked.
"I assure you that it is Buffy." Giles replied.
Willow instantly ran over to Buffy. They shared a quick hug, before she started asking all of her questions.
Buffy was the first to speak. "Hey, Willow. How have you been?" she took Willow's books and set them on a table.
"I've been great. Where were you? Everyone was worried," Willow tried to answer calmly.
"To make things short, I went after Spike and killed him," Buffy was just as happy as her friend.
"Can I...I interrupt? We have another prophecy going on. We've been fighting vampires a lot, lately. They're up to something."
"Thanks for the info. But is everyone okay? My mom?" Buffy's smile turned into a frown.
"Everyone's fine. I thought you...you went home first?" Giles reassured her.
"No, but I need to. I'll be leaving shortly before Principal Snyder comes in and sees me." her voice was anxious.
"Yes, of course. But we think it's a new master," Giles explained. He started reading his book.
"Wow. Giles summed everything up. He didn't take two hours to explain things." Buffy smiled and looked at Willow. "I guess things have changed. Now, about my work-out music-"
"It's not music, it's just notes," Giles said instantly, not even looking up from the book he was reading.
"Maybe not," Buffy giggled. "Well, I gotta go. Mom will be excited to see me. I'm guessing that you explained everything to her?" she looked at Giles.
"Everything. Oh, the police found out that you're innocent and you're not expelled," Willow smiled. "Principal Snyder didn't have the power to keep you out of school."
"Wow. I leave and everything is erased." Buffy was now happy again. She picked up her bag and put it on her shoulder. "I'll be back later. Maybe in a few days. My mom and I have a lot to discuss. Be sure to tell Xander and Cordelia." she said as she left the library.

I would love the feedback, but please keep the flames to a minimum. I think this is one of my best fanfics, yet. But I know I'm going to write a lot better than this.
