Part One
Yes this is another depressing Angel/Buffy story. This time, I am using a song off of Latin singing sensation Ricky Martin's new CD, "Ricky Martin." The song is called "You stay with me."
TISSUE WARNING!!: BOX OF TISSUES REQUIRED BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER!!
Angel was lonley. Of course he always had been ever since he had moved to LA almost a year before, but this night was different. He missed Buffy more than ever. Sure he thought about her constantly, but tonight he missed her with every fiber of his being.
Before he left, she had gone to a photographer. They had spent countless hours taking pictures of her. The night before he left, she had come over to the mansion. She had a medium sized box with her. "What's that?" He asked. "Just something to remember me by." She looked up at him after she handed him the box. "Don't open it until after I leave." They stared at each other in silence for a moment before she turned and started to walk away. "Where you going? It's early. Stay with me." He pleaded. She didn't turn around. She just kept on walking until she was out the front door. Then blindly she broke into a run.
A tear ran down his cheek at the memory. She never gave him the chance to say good-bye. She didn't say good-bye. He looked down at the box she had given him. He still hadn't opened it. He opened it now. Inside, a single piece of paper sat atop a carefully wrapped object in tissue paper. He picked up the piece of paper and read it:
You told me once that you were jealous of Xander because he could see me in the sunlight. Well, now you can too. Enclosed with this letter you'll find some of the results of my visit to the photographer.
It will be hard to look up at the mansion now that you're leaving. I can see it from most of my classes and I used to sit there and just daydream of you. But now, whenever I will see the mansion, I will cry. Knowing that you're not there waiting for me like you used to. Goodbye.
Always,
Buffy
Angel carefully unwrapped the tissue paper from around the photo. There was only one. The photo was of her in the meadow where they used to go. For the first time, he saw it in sunlight. The wildflowers were alive with vivid blues, purples, and yellows. The grass was a vivid green and Buffy stood out against it all in a knee length spagetti-stap white velvet dress. She was lying on her side facing the camera. Her hair was flowing along with the breezing that had been blowing that day. Her light green eyes contrasted so perfectly with the dress and her honey-colored hair he could have sworn he was looking at an angel. And he was. She was his angel.
He went out that night and bought a frame for it. The frame was silver with a Celtic band around it. After he put it in the frame, he took four candles, two tall, two short, placed them around the picture, and lit them. He walked out onto his balcony and looked at the moon. It was full. Oz was probably locked in the bookcage with Willow watching him. Giles might be researching a new prophecy. Xander was probably talking on the phone to Cordelia who was in LA with him. And Buffy would be patroling. God how he missed her. "Met you underneath the moon. The night was over much too soon. We shared a kiss till daylight came, and kissed the night good-bye. And when the sun came up that day, we smiled and went our seperate ways, but, I can't leave the thought of you behind. No. Oh. You stay with me, stay with me. In my heart and on my mind. Like a melody that keeps haunting me, you stay."
Angel was now walking along the streets. "Ilook inside the small cafes, and hope by chance I'll see your face. I hear your voice and realize, it's just the summer wind. Somthin in your eyes that night, swept away this heart of mine now I just want you in my arms again."
Somehow, he had managed to make his way down to the pier. He was so emmersed in his thoughts that he didn't notice the shadow that was following him."Oh, you stay with me, stay with me. In my heart and on my mind. Oh like a melody that keeps haunting me. Oh, you stay.
He looked up at the full moon and saw her face. He fell to his knees, still looking at the moon. "How was I to know in that one night, my whole life would change? From the moment I looked in your eyes, I've never been the same. And if I could have one chance to have that moment back again, I'd never let it end, I'd never let it end.
The shadow started to whisper but still Angel couldn't hear it. "Can't you hear him? It's heartbreaking." It said.
"Met you underneath the moon, the night was over much too soon. We shared a kiss till daylight came, and kissed the night goodbye. And when the sun came up that day, we smiled and went our seperate ways. But, I can't leave the thought of you behind. Oh. You stay with me, stay with me. Oh. In my heart and on my mind. Oh, like a melody that keeps haunting me. Oh. You stay. Oh, you stay." The shadow watched as Angel walked away. After he was out of hearing distance, the shadow stepped out into the light of a streetlamp. It was Cordelia. She was crying. "He still loves her Xander." She said into her cell phone. "Are you sure?" Xander asked. "You heard him didn't you? And tonight he's been more brooding than usual." "Cordy, Dead-Boy's always brooding. I thought you knew that." "Xander, if you were, here, you would be able to see that he's not the same without Buffy. We have to figure out a way to get them together."
