Part Four
BUFFY:
Oh my God, I’m going to be Angel’s wife! As the words registered my smile grew wider. I looked down at my left hand and at the Claddagh. Angel had asked me to go with him to choose an engagement ring. I told him I didn’t want one. The Claddagh was all I needed. I’d found out not long after he had given it to me that to his people it was a wedding band, albeit unofficial. I was unofficially his wife and when that became official the Claddagh would too. Nothing could replace it.
Tonight the gang was coming round for dinner and we were going to break the news. I hoped that they would give us their blessings. I couldn’t see there being a problem as they had accepted us having Alesha and living together but this was the Hellmouth and you couldn’t be sure of anything.
Yesterday had been full of surprises. Since the night of Alesha’s birth and Angel’s rebirth my life had just got better and better. I didn’t know how much longer I had got, neither did anyone else, but I was going to make the most of every second. Carpe Diem!
I looked around the house everything was set for tonight. Angel had insisted that we call in the caterers. He didn’t see the point in either of us stressing out over preparing a meal when we were supposed to be relaxing and enjoying our ‘engagement dinner’ with our friends. I wasn’t going to argue.
The clock said eleven am, I decided to take a nap. Angel would be home at five and the gang was due at seven. He had made sure that there was nothing for me to do. I headed up to our room. God how I loved that man.
