Project Gutenberg is a non-profit organization dedicated to converting out-of-copyright books into electronic form. They currently have well over 10,000 books available, and the list is constantly growing. Anybody interested in contributing to this body of work is encouraged to visit the Distributed Proofreaders site, where scanned books are being proofed one page at a time.
