Baldurs Gate II I enjoyed making an entire party instead of only creating one character and recruiting followers later. Under multiplayer I set it to serial which means I play all six characters myself. While its true you can create a stronger group than if you recruited, you lose the chance at the romance plot and miss the premade character's personalities throughout the game. I started the game again with a Kensai/Mage as my main character with a romance with Jaheira, but I haven't had time to finish the game. Kensai/Mage is a powerful combination because Kensai's are fighters that can't use armor but get powerful fighting skills instead. Mages can't cast spells with armor on anyway, so combining the two makes a deadly fighter and a deadly caster. Plus, if the main character is at least part mage he can have a familiar. Familiars are little pets. I kept mine in the bag at all times for safety because he gave me an extra 8 hitpoints. Most fights can be easily won by casting Haste on your party and casting Breach on the enemy casters to bring down any physical immunities they have. If you don't cast breach you might waste time beating on an invulnerable target. Setting up snares/traps is also highly effective, especially on enemies you can talk to first... like dragons. Set up as many snares as possible right in front of the dragon, talk to initiate the fight, then pull him forward into the traps. I brought a dragon to Hurt status, which is about halfway dead, off of traps alone one time. |
