In the days of old, when Autobots and Decepticons raged war all across the galaxy. One guardian was left. The oldest of the old, the biggest of the big. He was Omega Supreme. Thought lost in a final mission mentioned by Grimlock; Omega Supreme was sucked into a time vortex after an all out final assault to destroy the mighty combiner Devastator. Alone and unable to transform because of years of stasis lock, he floated in space for nearly a Vorn. His exostructure slowly disintegrating.. until the point where his spark left to join the matrix. Unlike all other Transformers, and unknown to Omega Supreme, his spark endured and freed itself from the rusty exostructure of his enormous Autobot body. Floating helplessly, his spark traveled back to the place he had sworn to protect.. Earth! Drifting along the mountainsides, he spots a transformer signature, which leads him to a blank stasis pod. His inner self rejoicing at the thought of new found life, he overtakes the blank protoform inside and waits.

The first to locate the stasis pod were the Maximals. Because of the barren wasteland the pod was in, there were no immediate life forms for the new Maximal to take. Rhinox, the only Maximal in charge of Defense and weary from "sneak attack" damage, talked Optimus Primal into letting him research a form of a guard for the protoform. His research discovered a German shepherd dog, which was known during human times as a good form of protection. Not knowing what exactly a German Shepherd is, he replicated its DNA and gave it to the new protoform. The warrior known as Omega Supreme emerged, weak and frightened. He had never realized the lightness of gravity before, so he felt awkward being in such a small form. He refused to reveal his name, so Rhinox respectively named him K-9. The Maximal's early warning defense robot. Pleased to have the same duties he had all those years ago, he finds happiness again fighting with the Maximals. So now in the time of the Beast Wars, he once again guards the Ark. Ensuring victory for the Maximals, and ensuring the survival of the precious cargo inside. He's the newest form of defense for the Maximals, and the oldest Guardian Cybertron has ever known. The only Maximal who recognizes his true identity is the rebuilt Autobot Grimlock, but in respects to his lost comrade, he keeps his identity secret and retains a true friendship with K-9.
