Appearance: Kostrzyn is a vigorous young man in his late twenties, with tanned and weathered skin. His hazel eyes and soft, dark brown hair and mustache lend to his rugged good looks. He is physically fit, but obviously leads a simple lifestyle. His perpetual companions are his trusty wheellock pistol and his journal with its cracked leather cover.

Background: Kostrzyn was born in Invidia, on the outskirts of the city of Karina. Raised by his harsh stepfather, a rye farmer, Kostrzyn ran away at an early age to apprentice as a scribe in Karina. He took to the trade quite well, but after squirreling away his meager wealth for some time, he eventually left to explore his native land. He traveled throughout Invidia, and eventually pushed on to other lands. He has since visited many domains in the southern Core, and written extensively in his journals about the people and sights he encounters.

Roleplaying Notes: Kostrzyn is already becoming a weathered and worldly traveler. He is not the most pleasant of men, but his persona is nonetheless intriguing in its own way. His cynical nature and rough edges do little to reveal the learned, introspective young man beneath. He writes simple narratives of his travels that shine in their honesty and perception. Kostrzyn seeks adventure and new places, pure and simple.

Kostrzyn funds his travels with the detailed maps he creates of the places he visits. His skill and knowledge are such that many have suggested that he open a cartography shop. Kostrzyn would never dream of it. He is too fond of the open road, exotic locales, and simple living to settle down. He has wandered farther and farther afield from Invidia through the years, though without any real direction. He may soon wander farther north into the Core, cross the Sea of Sorrows, or even brave the Mists and whatever lands lie beyond.

Kostrzyn does not deliberately seek out trouble, but often finds himself involved in situations much larger than himself. His curiosity and conscience often turn him into an unlikely hero, when he would rather be a scholar, outdoorsman, and explorer. PC's will most likely interact with Kostrzyn as a fellow adventurer and foreigner in an unfamiliar domain. Kostrzyn values his own independence too much to travel with a party for a long period, but he will linger with those who have firm values and good stories. He makes an excellent ally for PC's to encounter periodically in their travels throughout the Land of Mists, as his knowledge of geography and culture is vast.
