Appearance: Narissa is a true Sithican beauty. She is whisper-thin, even for an elf. In her one hundred and twenties, she has the kind of pale, radiant skin typical of elven maidens. Her wide eyes are a cool green in color, and they sparkle with a unsettling mixture of passion and contempt. She has high, shadowy cheekbones and full, red lips. Narissa's staggering beauty—combined with her sometimes arrogant and condescending attitude—keep most people off balance when interacting with her. She keeps her wavy, copper-red hair pulled back most of the time. While adventuring, she wears a simple but attractive white blouse with black leather pants and vest. Around her neck hangs an iron amulet fashioned to resemble knotwork and fantastic birds.

Narissa has always been as slim as an elven sword, but more recently she has become skinny to an unhealthy degree. Her ribs protrude through her thin skin, and her stomach is sickeningly concave. Her features have taken on a slight sunken appearance. Improving her eating habits, however, has not seemed to help. Narissa is beginning to suspect that she may have fallen victim to a curse.

Background: Narissa was born in a tiny village in the Sithican wilderness, and had a featureless childhood that Narissa found banal and stifling. (At least, Narissa remembers her childhood. She is actually a child of Mists, having appeared—like all other Sithican elves—in 720 as a part of Lord Soth's domain.) Growing up in a household of elven wizards, Narissa was drawn to the occult from an early age. However, when she was forced to marry against her will, she fled her home. After an encounter with Sithicus' Vistani that left a deep impression on her, she soon found herself in the domain of Har'akir.

Narissa spent several years in that sun-baked domain, not only surviving admirably, but also delving into the ancient secrets beneath the sands. As she broadened her magical skills, she learned of a passion for archaeology and antiquities. Her plundering activities eventually incurred the wrath of Har'akir's folk (and more than a few restless souls), and she was forced to flee. She began traveling with the Walkers soon afterwards, primarily because she recognized her own limitations. Her journeys with them have delivered nothing but adventure, so Narissa sees no reason to leave them. Besides, Garth has apparently taken an interest in her, and she isn't entirely revolted by the prospect of romance...

Roleplaying Notes: Narissa is a dangerous breed of creature indeed: a frighteningly intelligent and headstrong elven maiden. Her mind races too fast for most anyone to keep up. Although her beauty is undeniable, she often rubs others the wrong way with her characteristic snide remarks. She infuriates the other Walkers at times with her independence and curiosity, but her skills and magic have saved their hides on more than one occasion. Her attitude towards her companions tends to shift from slavish dependence to aloofness to outright muttering contempt. Narissa desires to learn something arcane from every situation, and is drawn to libraries, laboratories, temples, and the like. Her never-ending mission is to bring the relics of forgotten eras and cultures out into the sun. Appellations such as "graverobber" do not faze her; she knows her destiny is purer. A museum in Port-a-Lucine purchases antiquities from her regularly.

Narissa's perspective has changed somewhat recently. Because of the corrupting effects of the Horn of the Sacred Grove, Narissa's alignment has shifted from chaotic neutral to true neutral. Her personality has lost some of its coarseness, but she is more committed than ever to the spread of knowledge. She views the imbalance of evil in her world as the result of ignorance. To this end, she seeks to bring light to the darkest and most hidden corners of the Land of Mists.
