He feels the call of magic from his deity Mystra who directs him to go and spread magic to all people who would have him. Although he is a member of the clergy in technicality, his calling requires him to go abroad. Ykara was born in a upper-class family, having very little to worry about as far as health, money, toys, or any material goods. His parents thought the world of him, spoiling him whenever he asked for anything. On his thirteenth birthday he was given his very first magical item, a wand of Light, and he was hooked. His last request of his parents, which was on his 17th birthday, would end up being the one that would start him down the pathway of mysticism. He stepped into the Temple of Mystra and requested information on becoming a magic user. The question the attendant asked puzzled him severely, "Divine or Arcane?" Ykara decided that he would do both. With his parent's funding he attended both the arcane and divine school classes, with the divine during the day, arcane in the evening, and with the help of a ring of sustenance he only slept 2 hours, allowing him to spend time with his family and his only friend, Julliana, .a beautiful woman one year older than Ykara Julliana saw past the rugged demeanor and saw the zealous man below. Julliana was a study of the arcane arts, and through a tutoring program she ended up being her tutor, though she never had to teach him anything. Ykara's unnaturally high aptitude for learning allowed him to pick up arcane spells with ease. He really wanted a tutor for the divine spells but didn't need one. He just took extra time out of the arcane classes to make up. After five years of study he graduated both classes with honors. Armed with the understanding of arcane spells and divine spells Ykara started to experiment with the two different styles in an attempt to merge them. Julliana and Ykara decided to marry three years after his graduation. One year later a baby boy, Ysedran, entered their lives. Julliana settled down from her magic studies while Ykara taught entrance courses at the college. Ysedran started showing magical aptitude at age four, something very unusual in human children. Ykara took Ysedran to the school for some testing, and found that his son has inborn magical talent, in the ways of sorcery. Overjoyed, Ykara took his son home and told his wife the good news. When he returned to his home he found it under siege. His wife was tied to a tree, beaten, and his home was being plundered. He ordered his son to run for the woods, and in a fit of insane rage he started casting spells left and right. The men that were there started dying quickly, some burning to death, some having the life sucked completely out of them. Some saw the skeletal remains of one of the dead victims and started to plea for his life. Without mercy Ykara touched the man and killed him. His wife had been raped, beaten, and tortured, and once tied to the tree, she died. His son was howhere to be found, and his existence became hollow, without purpose. As he walked into the house he found a letter his wife had written him while they were in school. Reading it, he welled up with tears, and cried for almost an hour. When the constable arrived and saw the hell that had been wrought he immeidiately took Ykara under arrest. He spent three days while a magistrate determined that his actions were excessive but nonetheless understandable, and cleared him of the charges. His wife was buried on the grounds of the Temple of Mystra in honor of her sacrifice to magic, and Ykara ended his teaching tenure that day. He walked away fromhis hometown, searching for his son, searching for absolution, and in finding neither, he fell away into seclusion. Four years he spent on the borders of the woodlands, coming into town when spell provisions were scarce. He survived with his ring, only eating to pass the time or to find better roots for healing. It was that winter when he finally discovered the secret between arcane and divine magic, and it was then that he bace a mystic. He ran as fast as he could to the Temple, explaining his discovery to the headmaster of the school there. He was all but laughed at. Considered crazy by most, Ykara was thought to have cracked. Regardless of the clergy there he continued to advance himself on this path, learning spells both arcane and divine with the same ease that came before. Now he wanders, searching for more spells, more magic, more items, and more knowledge on the lessening gap between magics. He attempted divining for his son, finding no answers, so he assumes the worst. In the bottom of his heart he still hopes, though, to be reunited with his lost son. He has little delusions about the way of men and has but only his own personal convictions to guide him.
