Adrian wondered where she could have gone. He was worried
that she may let her newfound instincts take over and feed on a human and
even accidentally take their life. Turning her into a vampire had been the
only way to heal her fatal wounds. But it was obvious she was a witch, her
eyes and aura could tell any Night Worlder that with one glance. He had
put the ring on her finger so she would not be mistaken for a made vampire,
which was of course forbidden. It was easy enough to combine both the witch's
flower and vampire's flower onto one ring, he just hoped no one questioned
her enough before he found her to find out that she was actually as powerful
as she was. He had been following her in the first place because he was
on a search for the 4th wild power. He had no earthly idea what had possessed
him to follow her in particular in the first place. He only could hope that
she had not entered the Black Iris, for if she had then who knew who might
persuade her to join what circle.
Frost was learning all the while about her new powers. She lived in the alleys and her instincts made her almost go completely against her early beliefs. Now she disliked humans immensely. And she heard the others like herself talking about a club called something iris. She was going with a few of the others to this particular club tonight. Never did she think of her family that much because she knew now that she had been right about people acting odd. She thought of most humans as vermin.
Adrian was having trouble finding the girl he remembered that Circle Midnight had told him to find her since she was now what they called mixed, and bring her to the head council a soon as possible. He couldn't stop thinking about her, and it wasn't because he was ordered to find her either. The talked to all of the runaways who lived in the streets and alleyways, and many of them mentioned her. They said her name was Frost and that she was accompanying two of the leaders of their group to the Black Iris this very night.
Ash and Quinn, the leaders of Frost's outsider type group, had left long ago to find Daria, another one from the lost ones, like herself who was supposed to meet them here but had not shown. So now she stood here feeling the danger and anxiety radiate from behind the door with the Black Iris which seemed to be challenging her to open it and step into the real Night World. Frost knocked lightly on the door and a thin, scraggly, boy peered out from behind the door. "Who are you?" he questioned suspiciously. "Ash and Quinn sent me here but had to run off and find a girl who was supposed to come here with us tonight but didn't show," Frost said defiantly.
The boy started to say something, but glanced down at her ring and his expression changed. "Come in," he said shortly. Frost stepped in with her shoulders back, looking as proud as she could.
Adrian was feeling edgy as dusk passed and night came like a black mist falling over the city. He had just now reached the Black Iris and he knew if he didn't find her not only would the council be extremely angry with him, but he felt as if he himself would still keep looking until he found her. Adrian steadied himself and knocked loudly on the back door. An annoyed looking werewolf looked out at him and said, "Coming in so early are we Adrian?"
"Shove it Sarken," Adrian huffed as he pushed through the door and walked briskly into the club. He had other things to worry about besides dealing with werewolves tonight.
