I love Final Fantasy Tactics. It is possibly my favorite Final Fantasy game out there (though I am still excited about Final Fantasy II). In my personal opinion, it is highly under-rated. I've seen game reviews that only give it a B or B+ when it deserves an A+!!! They say the story line is too hard to understand!! I say "stupid people shouldn't play the game then!!!" (no comment from the peanut gallery please)
I have included on this page several of my experiences. Most of the tips I can give are things that you probably already know!!! Also, feel free to copy any of the pictures you see here.
The pictures above are Screenshots taken from the game early on (remember when you still used "Throw Stone"?). The one on the right is the battle at the first city. I can't remember where the one on the left is taken. (the guy throwing the stone is on my team though!). Well, I'm including a few tips. I'm not sure how many of them will be helpful but I hope you enjoy this page.
Tips a few helpful tips
Remeber when you first started and it was very annoying to have to build Experience and Job points? Remember not having any skills or abilities? Well, there are a few ways to get rid of some of this stress. First, I always suggest that you have at least one Chemist in your party in the beginning at all time. They are the only way to cure your characters in the begining. But having a chemist also means having to buy potions. Early on you shouldn't have to buy too much to have to buy so feel free to spend a little extra cash on potions and fenix downs.
Lets face it; squires and chemists aren't much of a variety in the begining. Some of the skills you learn from these two will be valuable throughout the game. First, thow stone is very valuable. Many of the monsters in the begining will take quite a beating from a rock to the head. Another skill that is invaluable is JP_Up. Being able to double your JP is very valuable in mastering several of the easier classes in the begining. I also suggest that you learn Yell for Ramza because you gain extra JP for that.
The following tip may sound a little monotonous but it really has helped me out in the begining. Mandalia Plains is the perfect place to gain JP and Experience points in the begining. I walk back and forth from the two trade cities and fight there to gain enough experience to gain a few extra character classes. Though archers come in handy later, I find them rather useless in the begining. Knights are a pain in the butt to raise up and master but the skills that you gain from them is invaluable. Two of the skills of the Knight that I find quite useful are Break Weapon and Break Magic. All of the physically strong characters can be taken out with break weapon and break magic has helped me out more than once in killing off those annoying Summoners and Wizards. In the begining, learning the first few spells of the priest and wizard will be valuable in killing off those annoying goblins in the begining.
There is one class that everyone is always teasing me about because it is my favorite; the Monk. They have to be the best character in the game and here is why:
1. Monk's may take a long time to master but all of their skills are useful throught the entire game. What is their best ability you ask? One word: Hamedo. This skill takes 1500 JP to learn but the ability to counterattack all physical attacks before they happen is so valuable that I can't even begin to explain. I've killed many a character by having them attack my monk and he attacks before they even think about it. Another valuable skill is Earth Fist. I find that it has done twice as much damage as some of the early (and even later) game weapons. Plus, without having to have weapons equipped, you can save your money to buy more expensive items that some of your other characters may need. I love Monks!!!!!! For the books, my first mastered monk's name was McNorton.
2. Monks go great with the class Geomancer. Geomancers have those powers that kick butt when it comes to killing off monsters. The Monk also goes great when trying to learn spells for any of the major spell casters including Summoners.
Well, I have plenty more tips where this came from but you will have to wait for me to compile em together and upload em'. To return to my main page, just click here.
