Five years ago, one of the most inspiring shows of its time, was pulled off of NBC’s air waves. A show that touched the lives of millions of people world wide. Quantum Leap. Such a rare show in that a whole family could sit down together, watch it, and walk away having learned something. There are very few shows today that can achieve such a feat.
Quantum Leap dared to stand away from the norm. Because of its great idea base and special twist of Science Fiction, Action, and Drama, it created a unique experience unsurpassed by any shows to date. It was a dangerously original show that grabbed you into the world of Sam Beckett and Al Calavicci. You followed along with the characters week after week. Rejoicing with them, laughing with them, learning, sometimes grieving with them, but you always left with a light heart. It was a rare Dramatic show in which it was Drama you were presented with, yet it didn’t have to depress you for you to understand the characters pain.
And in 1993 this show was pulled off. Though many letters have been written to no avail, many efforts turned seedless, the fact that there are people working to
get the show renewed even today, only supports the statements above.
It’s time to let the networks know that it’s been long enough. It’s time for people to take a stand toward bringing this exceptional show back on. Quantum Leap was before its time perhaps, but, with a willing cast and crew, and new fan establishments, it deserves another go. Besides which, we could sure use a show like it on Television today.
We hope you’ll decide to join us in our efforts, or at the least sign a local petition and give Quantum Leap it’s fair try. We can use all the help we can get, and the only way we’re going to achieve such a goal, is together.
