Countdown

Cassie and Jake:
Jake gave Cassie a little swirl. It was new year's eve and he couldn't have been happier. There was a huge party in the school cafeteria. Hundreds were there but it was like it was just him and Cassie.

Cassie looked beautiful. A beautiful smile lit up her face. A carefree smile. A smile that seemed to make all Jake's troubles go away. Yeerks? They weren't trouble, not with Cassie by his side. He could spend millions of milleniums with her. He leaned forward. He didn't care that everyone was watching. Or perhaps he didn't even
notice the others. No, it was only Cassie and him Cassie and him forever.
        The countdown started:

10
"Cassie," he whispered. "I love you."
9
"I love you too." She replied a look of pure joy in her eyes.

8

"I'll always love you." He said whispering gently in her ear.

7

"And I'll love you forever." She said leaning forward to kiss him quickly and innocently on the cheek.

6

"Until the end of time." She said looking thoughful.

5

"And then some." He said with a cheerful smile.
4

"And if we ever part..." She said suddenly looking sad.
3

He put a finger to her lips."We're never part."
2

Still with the troubled look she continued, "...I'll still love you.
1
"I'll love you to the day I die Cassie."

And so the countdown ended. And their everlasting love began.

        Tobias:

Tobias looked at Rachel with nothing but pure admiration in his eyes. It was times like this.... It was times like this when he wished he wasn't...when he wished.... It was times like this when that simple moronic thought entered his mind. Why me? That tiny bit of self-pity that annoyed him so. Why did he have to be fighting in this stupid war? Why couldn't he be normal? Why couldn't he and Rachel be your typical high school sweethearts?
Tobias shook his head. He couldn't feel sorry for himself. No he had to be strong. He shouldn't be thinking such serious thoughts. Today was suppose to be fun. It was new year's eve. And so he leaned toward Rachel. He ignored the millions of other swarming around him. He leaned towards her and, using all the courage he could muster, kissed her. In the distant he could vaguely hear some idiot whooping at him. He ignored it. Only
Rachel mattered. Out of all the hundreds of people there it was only him and Rachel. And so as the countdown began his kissed her gently.

10

Tobias pulled away from Rachel and smiled at her. She was his everything.
9
        She was his role model.
8
        She was all he needed.
7
        She was his salvation.
6
She was what made him whole.
5
She was what made him want to live.
4
        She was his driving force.
3
        She was his strenth.
2
She was what made him happy
1
She was his one true love.

Marco:

Marco stood all alone in the corner. As the countdown began he turned to Ax.

"So," He said putting his arm around Ax, "What's up?"
