What the Future Brings
By CuTgrl4
Chapter One: Rachel
My name is Rachel. I think by now you know the drill.
It was early Sunday
morning. I climbed out of bed, slipped on a morphing outfit, morphed,
and flew out my window. I was going to Kara and Tobias's place.
We were all going to help Tobias move in, and redecorate and stuff like
that.
I flew for about two minutes. Their place is not far away from my
house at all, I could walk there, but I would have a risk of my family
seeing me. I tell you, having two sisters is not an advantage when
you need to save the
world, or even redecorate a friend's apartment.
I spotted the drab looking building, and swooped down. I demorphed
under some stairs. I climbed the stairs to the top apartment, and
knocked on the door. Tobias answered.
"Hi," he said smiling. "I was just trying to get Kara up."
He went over to the door and slammed it with his fist. "KARA, GET
UP NOW!!" he screamed. A few seconds later, a very annoyed girl emerged
from behind the door.
"Tobias," she said through gritted teeth. "This better be good or
you are going to wish you were never born." He rolled his eyes at
her.
"Rachel's here," was all he said.
Kara must have forgotten. "There's a couch right there, you don't
need my permission if you want to make out," then a second later she must
have remembered, but it was just enough time for both Tobias and mine's
faces to turn bright crimson. "Oh, Sorry," she said tousling her
hair. Just then, Cassie and Jake knocked on the door. Kara
left to let them in.
" Okay," she said when everyone was gathered, then she turned expectantly
at me.
"Let's do it," I said smiling.
Chapter two: Kara
We all went to work. I had dressed up as a businesswoman, went to
Tobias and my Aunt, then offered her a very nice Mansion in Germany.
Then I bought all of Tobias old stuff from her, including Dude, and before
leaving, shook her hand and acquired her DNA. It was a really good
plan, considering I came up with it in less then a minute.
I had put all of his junk, and might I add to you that I do emphasize the
word JUNK, in his room. His room was a nice size, but I hadn't shown
him the other one, that one was mine. I knew that when he
saw it, he would say, "HEY!! How
come you get the bigger room!" Oh well, I would have to cross that
bridge when I came to it. Besides, I needed the bigger room.
I already had to put some of my punching bags and exercise equipment out
in the living room. I needed to store as much of it as possible.
That and I'm really claustrophobic. So I had my reasons.
Anyway, for about a half an hour we just unpacked stuff. Then Marco
announced he needed a hammer. Not thinking, I answered, "Oh, I have
one in my room, on that shelf."
"I'll get it," Tobias volunteered. I nodded my head yes, very
occupied with getting this stain out of the couch. I had spilled
coffee on it this morning, and had just noticed it.
Then I heard Tobias say, "Hey, how come you have the bigger room,"
I snapped to attention, and rushed in to explain myself.
I really don't think that he listened to my long list of reason.
He just glared at the things around my room. My room looked normal
for a girl my age. You know, the basics, knifes in one corner, guns in
the other, stuff like
that. Tobias walked up to
a shelf, and grabbed the hammer, then he noticed the picture.
The picture looked
like it had been taken recently. There was this tall, teenage guy,
with Light brown hair and green eyes. He had his arm around me. We
were kissing. In the background, you could see space. It was
beautiful.
"Who's that," Tobias asked me. I stared at the picture, and
took a deep breath.
I sprung to action, "You know, Marco needs that hammer," I pushed
him out the door, and shut it softly behind him. Then I sat down
with my back against the door, and do something that normally I never do,
I cried.
It took me a little while to get my act together. I still didn't
want to go back out there, with all of them. They were obviously
done unpacking. Their laughter floated back to my ears.
Suddenly, a bright light flashed. I was
in the middle of the Sario rip.
I found myself staring into the eyes of a girl that looked very similar
to me. Her
clothing was futuristic.
She bowed before me, so I figured she was from a base. I was a very
recognizable figure. That's one of the up sides of being a princess
of war. " You have to know what to look for," she said. Then
a bright flash. I was back in my bedroom. I jumped up, ran over to
my bookshelves, and thumbed through the Jurt Ovra prophecies. I found
the one I was looking for.
Jurt Ovra: Seventieth day of Augustus, six after moon of light. Year 148
And out of the light steps the child of war, reunited with her aunt.
Her coming was foretold, and needs to be dealt with carefully.
I knew exactly what it meant, but I never saw the danger.
Chapter three: Jake
We all met up at Cassie's barn later. We were all tired. I didn't
think there was a mission, but I made all of us meet up. He
said Ax wanted to talk to us. I couldn't decide whether that
was good or bad. I really didn't have time though, because Ax was
already at the barn.
< Prince Jake >
he said. I thought about saying, "Don't call me prince," but I didn't
have enough time because he continued to thought speak.
I saw Kara's eyes snap around towards him. < I think it may be
a problem- > Ax never finished his sentence. At that moment the Sario
Rip opened right in front of us. Out stepped a young girl, looked
about our age. With her were two
girls and two boys. They stayed in perfect order behind her, like
she was
someone they respected. Then I noticed
their clothing and hairstyles. They were all like the kind you would
see in futuristic movies like Lost in Space, or whatever.
Then I saw Kara stepped forward. It was amazing what happened next. The
girl took one look at her and sank down on one knee. The others did
the same behind her, bowing their heads down.
Kara smiled. "Princess Faith, Arise," and the girl rose. Her
band stayed down on one knee.
Chapter Four: Kara
I saw them coming in my dreams. I didn't tell Tobias about them though.
We were having the typical brother/sister fights. I mean, I understand
if we had missed the first decade and some odd years of each other's lives,
but that doesn't mean he has to make up for it by fighting all the fights
we would have fought in less then a week.
Anyway. I made sure they were gathered at Cassie's barn. I
smiled as the Rip opened, and out stepped the warrior princess, Faith,
daughter of Tobias and Rachel, and Faith's band of intergalactic rebels.
It was at that moment that I realized what I was dealing with. One
wrong move could alter history. That's when I was
determine to keep the pain and strength
of our futuristic generations away from Tobias, Rachel, Jake, Cassie, and
Marco. I had enough to deal with. I know Tobias would once
more ask about the guy in the photograph. I wasn't about to let myself
go down that path again. That's what got me in trouble to begin with.
At that moment, I related most to the pretty mix between Tobias and Rachel.
I knew all the pain she had
experienced. She was like me, raised
reading prophecies. We shared so much in common. We knew how
we were going to die. We were both probably not going to fight.
I know that sounds very unlike me. I'm not crazy about it myself,
but in reality, I know. The prophecies tell me only so much, but
I can do the assuming. If I don't die, a new princess would not be
called, and the princess that did not get called might be the one to defeat
an enemy that would destroy earth. You, reader, have no idea what
I'm talking about. Which is good. You have never seen
the one you love more than life be ripped to pieces because of one simple
crime: he knew you. He knew your name, he knew of your existence,
and would be a problem if someone wanted to kill you. I knew
that feeling oh to well. It wasn't
good.
Faith, if the prophecies remained correct, knew the meaning of pain all
to well, so intensely that one day she just stopped. She no longer
cried for the people she killed. We are different too. I fought
for everyone. She fought for her family. If it came between
the other humans and her family, she would save her family. She
hadn't been able to do that, and the pain
from that killed her, and only I knew how much.
Chapter five: Cassie
It was amazing the way Faith and Kara looked the same, Brown hair, and
blue eyes. But in some odd way, Faith reminded me of both Rachel and Tobias.
"Who are you," snapped Rachel. She said it meaner then she wanted
too.
A long, curly hair dark skinned girl snapped her head up. "She is
the princess and she will be asking the questions."
"No I don't think so," Rachel said giving her a glare. The dark-skinned
girl rose up, pulled out a sword, and walked quickly towards Rachel with
it raised. I saw Rachel look afraid. All of a sudden, Faith Grabbed
the sword, flipped the girl backwards, and put her foot on her back so
she couldn't move.
"You kill my mother, I would never be born, therefore, you would
be dead," said Faith.
Rachel leaned over Marco to whisper in my ear. "She said 'mother'
right?" she asked, puzzled. I nodded. Mother, yes, she had defiantly
said mother.
The black girl nodded, slowly rose to her knees, and stepped behind Faith
once more.
Kara answered Rachel's question. "This is Faith. Warrior Princess,
who is called after I become Queen."
"Then what's she doing here?" asked Marco.
"Sario Rip," Answered Faith
"State your names Please," Kara asked them, like she was very important.
"I'm Faith, daughter of Rachel and Tobias," I heard Rachel and Tobias gasp.
"I'm Guatana, eldest daughter of Cassie and Jake," I heard the girl who
had attacked Rachel say.
The girl behind her spoke up, "I'm Cassandra, Daughter of Marco and Shara,"
"Shara who?" Marco asked eagerly. The girl ignored him.
Then the boys spoke.
"I'm Jeremy, son of Cassie and Jake,"
Then the boy nearest to Faith spoke.
"I'm Adam,"
Kara looked confused. "Who are your parents."
Adam snapped his head around to look at her. "My parents are on the other
side. I'm a rebel. As far as I'm concerned, My parents are
dead. Names not worth mentioning."
Kara nodded her head
in agreement.
Chapter six: Marco
So there we were. Twelve People/Andalites. We just stared at
each other. Cassie+Jake and Tobias+Rachel had gotten suddenly really shy
towards each other. I thought they were lucky. They knew
whom they were going to marry. I knew
my daughter's name, but that was it.
Just then, We were interrupted. The animals buzzing about in their cage's
stopped. Then we heard a voice in our heads.
HELLO MY FRIENEDS. It said.
We all hissed the word at the same time. "Ellimist!"
YES, AN ELLIMIST. I HAVE A MISSION FOR YOU.
Then he detailed a mission. A mission that was INSANE!!! I
mean, it was suicidal, It was idiotic it was-
"I'm in," Rachel said. I swear at that moment I was about to shoot
her.
"ARE YOU INSANE???" I asked as kindly as a person who was about to die
could.
"Rachel's right," Kara said. I glared at her this time. I think
Kara ignored me. "The Visser knows we'll never find it on our own.
He hadn't figured out about the Ellimist."
I couldn't believe we were going to do this. I promise you, It was
a death wish. I told them all that.
You see, the Ellimist had come to tell us about a new dimension Visser
Three was in the process of opening, underneath the yeerk pool. He
could have more space, etc. But that wasn't the bad thing.
In the process he had found a very valuable weapon, The Crystal of
Kinetics (don't ask me what it is, I have no idea).
According to the Ellimist, this weapon could change the course of time,
meaning he could slow or stop time. All he would have to do is stop
time, and send around controllers to every visible house and meeting area,
and infest the population. We needed to destroy it.
But to do that, we needed to go not only get into the yeerk pool, we had
to go IN the yeerk pool. The Ellimist, being the WONDERFUL(not) guy
he is gave us a hint.
FISH DON'T HAVE BIG EARS.
Chapter seven: Kara
Turns out that it involved lots of planning to do this little mission.
Jake, Cassie, Rachel, and Marco all told their parents that they were sleeping
over at everyone else's house. Then we all went back to my apartment.
Faith and Company were already there.
Faith was another problem. I knew that she was a warrior. She
was like me. But we were very different. As I said before, she fights
without will. It makes her a much more vulnerable target then me.
I know when to wimp out. She doesn't. You know how I said before
about how I lost one person I love? Faith lost everyone. Everyone
that knew and loved her was killed or held hostage. I've been lucky
compared to some princesses before me. Princess Shakienah ended up
beheaded, Princess Laura had all her limbs cut off then fed to some piranhas,
and Princess Jute-sorry, kids are reading this.
Chapter eight: Rachel
We talked for about a hour and a half. I couldn't help but notice
how violent all of our kids are. That sounds funny to say, Our kids.
It's just that I never really thought I would live to get married.
But I know for a fact from Faith that we defeat the yeerks. I've
never really thought of that. AND I DEFINITALY did not think Tobias and
I would ever get hitched!! I mean, Cassie and Jake was always a possibility,
but Tobias and me! It's actually
kind of cool.
Sorry got off track there. Anyway, Faith and Jake and Kara did most
the work. I had a big part of it, but they did most the planning.
I thought it was a good plan. They put me in the warrior group, along
with Faith, Kara, and Guatana. The plan was simple. We get
a yeerk (courtesy of Faith and Adam who volunteered for the job) then six
of us acquire it, crawl into the others ears so we get pass the gleet bio
filters. Then after that, we crawl out of the ears and demorph.
After that the warriors go out in their best fighting morphs while Kara
keeps an invisible protection shield around us so we don't get touched.
Then the others morph to fish, while Kara puts an invisible spell on us
so we can morph to trout as quickly as possible. Then we all
listened to Marco's "One hundred and One ways we could wind up dead."
Then, after we had gotten him to shut up, Faith and Adam left to get a
yeerk.
Fifteen minutes later they came up to the apartment holding a gun to this
man's head.
"Out Yeerk," she said. "Before I open this man's head up to get you."
With the slimy yeerk slithered out of his head. "We have two days
before it dies of lack of Kandrona," she said, after the six who had were
going to acquired it acquired it. With that she dropped it.
"But I've never been a patient girl," with that she slammed her foot down
on it.
Then we began to morph. We decided that the six of the normal Animorphs
would become Yeerks because we didn't want to be recognized later.
I began to morph yeerk.
First thing that happened was that my skin turned grayish and slimy.
Then I shrank rapidly. After that, all my limbs retracted into my
body. Suddenly my eyesight went, and I felt antennas grow out of
my head. I chose to go into Faith's ear. I guess she was closest.
When we all were in each other's head, we left. We all knew the way.
We passed the gleet biofilters easily, too easily as Marco put it, and
continued inside. We demorphed inside an invisibility shield set
up by Kara and Faith. Then Kara morphed into her Black Panther, I
morphed into my Grizzly, Guatana morphed into a leopard, and Faith
morphed into a lioness. We were ready.
We attacked. Kara took down lots of them. I took down a few
myself. Faith killed half the taxxons in that place. Kara and
Faith knew every weak spot of all the creatures in this place. It was cool,
the way they worked together. One attacked the weak spot while the other
went for the kill. I could just punch one, and it died. And
they never hurt us with the dracon beams. We were untouchable.
Sadly, all good fights come to an end. "Rachel, c'mon!!" screamed
Kara. I grabbed her as she forced an invisibility spell on us.
Then I demorphed and morphed to trout.
Chapter eight: Tobias
I was a nervous wreck. I had my girlfriend, my sister, and
my daughter in the line of battle. Plus, I was swimming in a yeerk
pool. The bubbly liquid floated all around me. Finally, we
found the wall they talked about, and swam right through it. Then
we demorphed and waited for the girls to join us.
When they did, we went back into the invisibility thing. We walked
around the cave for fifteen minutes. Finally, we found it.
The Crystal of Kinetics. Faith and Kara drew out this weird type of gun
and at the same time fired. Let's just say, the crystal didn't have a chance.
Suddenly, I big burst of light engulfed us.
"NO!" screamed Kara. "My god!! The Sario Rip. It responds to
the energy dying!!!!!" With that, I found myself being sucked into
a world. A world that didn't know me. I was in the future.
The End of Part One
What the Future Brings: Part Two:
Chapter nine: Kara
My name is Kara.
And I was one sorry girl.
I couldn't believe I had been so stupid!! If the base ever heard
about this, I would just die of humility. You see, the Sario Rip
responds to energy. In the future, people harvest this energy, and
program it where it needs to go. With this case, I had people from the
future, meaning it would go to right around the most significant point
of their lives.
I had a feeling it would be when she Faith found out about her title.
I was right. I found myself sitting on the carpet of this very big
house. I quickly made it so that anyone from this time period had
no consciousness
of us. I made the others aware of
that. Just then, someone entered the room. A tall man, with
dirty blond hair, and brown eyes. Everyone could tell it was Tobias.
I heard them gasp.
"I said no," is what older Tobias said. Then I caught a glimpse of
Faith. It was obviously before her title was announced to her.
"Daddy, please!! It's just for one night. He needs a place
to stay!" she whined, making pouty lips.
You could plainly see Tobias, the older one, was weakening. "Well…..I
guess so, but from now on, don't tell your boyfriend that when he wants
to run away, he can stay here. And you're needed for combat training
tonight, so absolutely no friends."
"But-" Faith started to protest.
Just then an older version of Rachel stepped into the room. "Listen
to your father, young lady, or I'll have your trainer work overtime, ALL
WEEK LONG!"
Both Tobias and Rachel were dressed in really simple outfits. Rachel
was in silver tanktop, with black pants and black boots. A pair of
dog tags circled her neck.
Tobias was in a silver coat, with black pants and boots. He also
had his dogtags on.
Suddenly a voice flashed.
"You have an incoming video-audio- message. Do you wish to accept?"
"Affirmative," Rachel sighed.
A tall man and black women flashed upon the screen. It was an older
version of Cassie and Jake.
"Chief Commander Tobias and Rachel," then bowed before them. Rachel and
Tobias nodded their heads for acknowledgement.
Jake was the president of the world, Cassie lived with him. He had
enough with intergalactic stuff. Rachel
had stayed, married Tobias, and lived
in the base. They talked a little while longer. Something
about the Tryverion Battle, I don't ever remember reading something about
that, so it must not have been very important.
That's when I heard the Faith that was with me, scream.
Chapter ten: Faith
I knew this day all to well. I kept trying to convince myself it
was another day. Conversations with my parents were all the same.
Then I knew. All my friends would see what I went through.
My parents too. I was scared. It was one thing were I could
just force thoughts out of my mind as they happened, but I couldn't shut
my eyes and my ears. This was my history, this was went down in the
history books as the massacre.
My mom and dad had loved each other so much. It was just one of those
things I could tell. They also loved me. They reluctantly let
me join the fight. I had wanted to then. All my friends were
did it. Cousin Jake and Cassie let their kids live up here, only because
of how bad the world was turning down there. Most the time, they
lived up at the base too. My father and mother were the commanders
of the base. They had to only report to Jake. That wasn't that
hard. Jake let them do what they want. Plus, my aunt was war queen.
I had really high warrior rate in me. I thought I would follow in
the rest of my family's footsteps. Turns out, I was special.
It turns out my father had overlooked a different section of the base.
This part held traitors. They too read their prophecies. They
knew, before I even did, that I was the next war princess.
I wondered why my aunt always made me take extra training. Now I
know. I could have expected it. My mother should have been
one. She and Kara fought along each other for many years. My
mother stopped when she got put as the leader of
the base. She was forced to however,
they claimed she was too valuable to risk.
Anyway, these traitors wanted me dead. I was the last princess left.
If I died without a fight, another one would not be called. So they
took away everyone I loved. I saw my mother and father being hit
upside the head, and dragged away to the prison that holds them now. I
saw my grandmother be burned alive inside her house. Cassie and Jake
and Uncle Marco got dragged away too. Probably because they were
the ones who defeated the yeerks. This was before the awarity.
If we had known, we would have taken the yeerks out so fast that they would
barely be able to say Kandrona.
Chapter eleven: Cassie
We all watched Faith's life blow past us. I don't want to even mention
all the horrible things that happened to her.
Finally, she just snapped. She killed freely, without remorse.
I cannot even begin to tell you the horror. I felt like screaming.
The poor girl had been through so much.
Suddenly, we were back and the barn. We were missing Faith, and Guatana
and the rest of them. Kara was looking really grim.
"Man, I can't believe all they've been through." Said Rachel quietly.
"You won't for long," said Kara. Suddenly I saw a bright flash.
Then I couldn't remember anything else.
"What were we just talking about?" I wondered outloud. Kara just
smiled.
"You were wondering when we were going to see that new movie." She
answered.
Chapter twelve: Kara
It took me a little while to realize it. The dangers of knowing the
future. At first, It didn't seem like such a big thing. But then
I came into the awarity. They know what's going to happen, they might
make their decisions
different. The little things that
alter the future would amaze you. It could be whether you decide
to have pasta or steak for dinner. The meatball could get stuck in your
throat and you could choke to death. If you chose the
steak, you could go on and cure cancer.
Life's funny that way.
That's why I didn't let them in on the secret. I can't fight with
them forever, but at least I can insure that they will stay alive a little
while longer.
Coming Up Next- War
Kara, on discovering the time Sario Rip not being fully repaired, ends
up sucking the Animorphs into a different time zone, in a different universe.
The Animorphs soon discover what life would be like if the alien ship never
crashed, and Elfangor never gave them the power to morph. They end
up fighting in a war against each other, and discover what hate does
to friendship.
Sample Chapter:
Rachel
I saw our town again. Only it was different. By looking on the bank
clock, I saw that it was exactly one year from the date we had been sucked
in. Then I saw me.
I was walking down the street. I had a gun in my hand. Suddenly
something stepped out in my way, and kicked the gun out of my hands.
I saw myself grow mad. Than I caught a glimpse of my attacker.
It was Tobias. We narrowed our eyes at each other. Then he
pulled out his gun, and aimed it at me. I saw a brief flash of fear
pass over my face. Then Tobias spoke.
"Well, well, well," he said, and evil grin crossing over his face.
"Tobias," I said snappishly.
" Co-Commander of war, Rachel," he said, smiling that grin. "I'll
get an upgrade from the Visser. Imagine that. Me, killing a
Co-Commander of War!"
Suddenly, I saw Kara
come up behind him. I saw myself smile, an evil grin.
Kara tapped him on the back. He spun around shocked. "I suggest
you leave my partner alone, Commander Tobias," I saw fear grow in his eyes.
Suddenly, Kara swung her fist back, and hit Tobias. He
went down. Kara turned her eyes
towards me. Then she walked over and picked up the gun Tobias had
kicked from my hands. "Shall we go?" she asked. "Prince Elfangor
is waiting for us."
