Hi. My name is Alison, and I can't tell you my
last name, or where I
live. You know why, but you probably haven't
heard of me, but you might
remember a talking wolf, who talked to my
brother, Gump. The wolf told
him not to mention the Yeerks to my dad. The wolf
told Gump that if our
dad knew that we knew the truth, we would be
killed, or worse. You know
the worse. Anyway, Gump took the talking wolf's
advice.
I had overheard my brother talking to the wolf,
and I followed it when
she left. I saw her as she changed into some
creepy thing that was half
wolf and half girl. I would have screamed, but
this kind of stuff
fascinated me. As I watch, she became a human
girl, about my age, with a
leotard on.
"Who are you?" I asked this girl who had once
been a wolf.
"I am Cassie," she answered. "Are you related to
Gump?"
"Yes, I am his sister, Alison. How can you do
that?"
"Well, Alison, did your brother tell you about
the Yeerks?" This girl
asked me.
"Yes, and he was going to tell Dad about them." I
replied
"Well, he won't tell your Dad about them now. I
told him not to. Your
dad has an alien living in his brain. You can
believe this or not, but
that alien is trying to take over the Earth.
Would you like to help my
friends and I fight them?"
"You bet."
Cassie took me to a barn.
I met Jake, the
leader; Rachel, his cousin;
Marco, the joker of the group; and last of all,
Tobias. He was a bird,
but he could talk in my head. The others called
it thought speak. After
Cassie told the others about me, they filled me
in on their past battles
with the Yeerks. I listened carefully, and I
realized that as an
Animorph, I would be useless if I couldn't morph.
Cassie realized this,
and called out to the Ellimist. He appeared in a
blue humanoid form, and
gave me the power to morph.
Cassie took me to her barn
again the next day.
"Why are we here?" I asked.
"For you to acquire some useful morphs, as well
as a fun one and a
powerful one. First, you must acquire a bird."
I stuck my hand into a red-tailed hawk's cage,
and touched his head. He
went calm as I acquired his DNA.
"Now, you and I will morph birds, and fly to the
Gardens. There, you can
acquire several morphs." Cassie said.
I morphed a hawk. First a feather pattern spread
over my skin. Then, my
teeth became a beak, while my toes turned to
talons. I was wondering if
I would be able to talk in morph, when Cassie,
already morphed, said in
thought speak {Just think what you are going to
say, and I can hear it.
You can direct thought speak at just one person,
or at everyone}
We arrived at the Gardens, where I acquired a
lion, a monkey, and a
dolphin. Back at the barn, we had a meeting. We
had to decide how to hit
the Yeerks next. Another person was present at
the meeting. Ax. He was
an Andalite, half-blue deer, half-human, with 4
eyes and a scorpion
tail. He seemed nice enough, but I made sure to
stay a few feet away
from him.
"Why don't we just go into Z-space, and find
Andalites. Then, we could
convince them that the situation here is
desperate, and they might come
to help the fight." I put in.
Everyone stared at me, open-mouthed. "Um… how did
know about z-space? We
never told you."
"I have a math teacher who is almost certainly a
crazed Yeerk. He
sometimes gives me weird information, which I
never was able to make
sense of until now. One of these times he handed
me instructions to
build some kind of ship. It was capable of
Z-space travel." I said.
"Hey Ax, if you got these instructions, could you
build this ship?" Jake
asked.
{I probably could. Alison, can you bring these
instructions to the woods
tomorrow afternoon, at 3:00? Then, I will look at
them. If I can make
this ship, we will have increased our chances of
saving Earth greatly.}
I met Ax in the woods the next day. We looked
over the plans together.
Tobias stopped by, then went off to find his
dinner.
{I can build this. However, it would be good if
you helped me. I do not
understand some of these human phrases} Ax
stated.
I helped him understand the instructions, and he
dictated a list of
supplies he would need. Before I left, I had to
explain that cowpies are
not good to eat. I was going to have to get used
to having a resident
alien.
Ax built the ship, and the next Saturday, we got
inside. Ax did the
driving, and the rest of us just talked about how
insane this was.
"Do any of you realize that we are in a home-made
space ship, and we are
letting some blue deer drive?" Marco, of course.
"Is your life always this insane?" I asked.
"Of course. We are always making space ships to
go find some freaky
aliens to try convincing them to help us fight
brain-stealing slugs.
This is an everyday outing," Rachel said
sarcastically.
We did eventually find the Andalites, and they
did come back with us to
fight the Yeerks. And we did win, after a few
more years of battles. We
all survived it. The Yeerks did retreat, and we
all went on with our
lives. The Andalites left, and Earth never knew
of the aliens who had
almost won. The Andalites wiped out the memories
of the Controllers, so
they remembered nothing. Lucky them. Cassie,
Rachel, and I married and
had kids. If you think this was the end of the
Animorphs, think again.
Hi. My name is Amy. If you don't know me, you'll
know my mother, Rachel.
She was an Animorph, 25 years ago. She told me
these stories when I was
little, and I thought they were made up. Now, I
know they were true. It
turns out that the morphing powers are
hereditary. I inherited them from
my mom. I can morph, and so can my friends Alex
and Nicole (Cassie's
kids), and Lisa (Alison's kid). We told our
parents that the stories
they had told us were true, and we could morph
too. They had a meeting
to discuss the fact that people were becoming
Controllers again.
{I have identified approximately 20
Controllers}Ax said.
"Well, how could they be here?" I asked. "Mom
says they left 25 years
ago."
{I believe I have a reason why there are Yeerks
here Prince Jake} Ax
said.
"Don't call me Prince. Why would the Yeerks be
here?"
{Yes Prince Jake. The Yeerks have 2 stages. A
grub, or larva, and the
adult stage. The grubs must be buried in the
ground for 25 human years
to become an adult. Then, they make a host a
Controller. I believe the
Yeerks left grubs in the ground here, and left.
The grubs would then
take over hosts, and start a new invasion. }
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's wipe them
out, while we can!" I
cried, and the other kids agreed.
"How should we do this?" my mom asked me. "If you
are so eager, you need
a plan."
"Well, Ax said that there are only about 20
Controllers right now. If we
hold them for 3 days, we can kill the Yeerks
before there are to many to
deal with!" I said enthusiastically.
"Whoa, wait a minute. Their families will notice
when they are gone for
3 days." Jake said.
{Who said 3 days? } Tobias
remarked. {If we time
it right, they will
only have to be held, 1, maybe 1 and a half days.
We can morph them,
then tell their families or whoever that they
will be gone for a trip
somewhere. }
"Hey, wait. Us kids need to acquire some other
morphs besides Chewy, our
cat."
"Well, Cassie Alison, let's get these kids some
bird morphs, then we'll
fly to the Gardens." Mom said.
"Yeah!!"
We all acquired hawks, and then we morphed. The
feathers looked cool on
Cassie, who has a morphing talent, but on
everyone else it just looked
gross. My teeth melted together to form a beak.
It was creepy, but man,
it is cool to fly! I used to love roller
coasters. Now, why bother? I
can be a bird and do 200 miles an hour in
mid-air. If you ever get the
chance to be a bird, don't let that chance get
away.
We flew to the Gardens Wildlife Park. I acquired
a lion, dolphin, and a
monkey. Alex got the tiger, shark, and an eagle.
Lisa and Nicole got the
same things, dolphin, buffalo, and rhino. Now, we
felt ready for
anything. We had a few mishaps at the Gardens,
like when Alex
accidentally knocked some kid into a snake pit.
Luckily, they were
harmless garter snakes. Still, that kid will need
some psychological
help. And then Lisa go lost in the dolphin show,
and Alison was frantic
with worry. But still, it was uneventful,
compared to the old Animorphs
days.
"Ok, we need to target a
few Controllers to
start with," Jake said.
{I have observed the Controllers,
and I believe
they all work for this
company called Quintam. They all take a business
trip to a rural city
every 3 days. I think they are getting their
Kandrona rays from these
trips.} Ax supplied.
"We can sneak along on their
business trips, and
'detain' them for a
day or 2," my mom said.
"Let's do it!" Marco cried.
Everyone stared at him, open-mouthed.
"I just wanted to beat Rachel,"
he explained.
We spied on the Quintam Controllers for a few
days. We found out that
they went to a rural city every 3 days, and we
decided to go to.
We all morphed flies, and
let me tell you, flies
are disgusting. As I
watched, Cassie's third pair of legs shot out of
her chest, SLOOP! Weird
mouthparts formed in Mom's mouth. Alex had
antennae coming out of his
hair, as he shrank to ¼ of an inch. All these
changes were happening to
me, and my only thought was "I am SO glad I don't
have a mirror."
As gross as flies are, they
can fly REALLY fast
for their size. As we
all zipped around, we were flying only about 4
mph. As we moved toward
the bus the Controllers were all on, I just kept
thinking "wow, what
would I do if I didn't have these powers?"
We hitched a ride on the
bus. In about an hour,
we flew off, demorphed,
and morphed again, so we wouldn't be stuck in fly
morph. When we got to
the city these Controllers supposedly went to,
the bus stopped, and the
Controllers proceeded toward an abandoned
building. We flew after them,
and saw a Yeerk Pool, just a small one, with dark
sludgy water in it.
{Now!} Jake ordered. We found a secluded place,
and demoprphed. Then, we
all went into combat mode. Everyone went into
their deadliest morph,
except Ax. He was dangerous enough as he was.
When we were ready, we
burst out of our hiding place, and raced for the
Controllers. We each
took one, Mom took 3 more (grizzly bears are
extremely strong), Marco,
in gorilla morph, took another 3, while Cassie
and I herded the rest to
the entrance. As soon as we were out, we ran. We
ran for a large,
abandoned shack in the hills.
When we got there, Ax tied the Controllers up
with complicated knots
he said would never come undone. We got them to
talk, and found out that
they were usually back from their "trip" the next
day or so. We decided
we could hold them until then, so Ax, Cassie, and
I stood guard. Mom,
Alex, and Marco would take the next shift.
The next morning, all of
the Yeerks had crawled
out of their host's
head, and they all were free again. Ax did an
Andalite thing that erased
all memory of this happening from their minds.
On the ride home, I noticed
Tobias, in human
morph, looking at one of
the people strangely.
"What's wrong?" I asked
him.
"That's my aunt. The one
who shuttled me across
the country to my
uncle, then back again."
"Does she even recognize
you?" I asked.
"Nope. I guess she never
cared that I left." He
said sadly.
Finally, the Earth was free
from the alien
invaders. These aliens, that
looked like slugs, had almost taken over the
Earth, nearly killing my
mom, and her friends, the Animorphs, in the
process.
You can believe this if
you want. You don't have
to. But then, if you
think Earth was always safe from alien invaders,
how do you explain the
strange behavior of your teacher, the school
janitor, the nut down the
street, or Mark Stambaugh, without saying they
are from another planet?
