Animorphs II

#1: The Rebirth

By: Howler99

Chapter One

My name is David.  I used to be normal, but now I'm a stinkin' rat.
The Animorphs will pay for this.  They're the ones who did this to me.
The Animorphs are this pathetci little band of five kids, an alien, and a bird who can morph into any animals they can touch.
They use they're power to fight the Yeerks, a species of slugs who crawl into the ear of sentient creatures and take over their mind. Enslaves them.
They're here to take ove Earth.
I was the one who found the blue box.  I was the one who owned it.  It was mine.
The Animorphs used it on me to transform me into one of them.  I was one of them for a while, but then they got tired of me and made me a stinkin' rat for the rest of my life.
 But now that's going to change . . .
I woke up and crawled out of my burrow.  I survived another night of terror as a rat.
I turned my haed left and right, looking for any signs of danger.  Then I looked up.
There, in the sky, was the familiar silhouette of a red-tailed hawk. It was Tobias on his daily routine of seeing if I
was still alive.
I ran out, quickly grabbed a berry that was on the ground, and scrambled back to my little hole in the gound I
now called home.
Before I made it to the entrance, I heard a "TSEEEEEEERR!" from a hawk.  I looked up and saw Tobias, swooping down to try and kill me.
< Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh! > I screamed as the terror dove in to kill me.
I tried to run to my hole, but was blocked by a talon.  I tried the other way, but another one blocked my path.  I
looked up and saw that ripping, tearing beak come down and slice me open.
It ripped out my flesh, slowly.  He wanted me to feel the pain as he ate me.  I blacked out and knew that I was dead.

Chapter Two

 I knew I was dead?  I wasn't dead.  But I was dead.  Only . . . I wasn't.
"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh," I screamed with my human mouth just as the dark world was suddenly filled with marvelous light than went dark again with the faintest of light.
There, sitting on a giant throne towering above me, was an eye.
"I am called Crayak," he said in a thundering voice to me.  "You are the rebel Animorph called David.  You had died. I have given you life again."
I could only nod in agreement.  I was alive, human, and ready to pee my pants.  Then a thought occured to me.
"What about my morphing power?"  I asked to Crayak.
"You are very bold.  Yes, I have given you your morphing power back.  I have given back what you want most.  Now you must give me something back in return."
 "What?" I asked.
"That will be determined.  For now, you are free to go, human.  But remember this, you belong to me."
I carefull turned and walked away into nothingness.  A moment later, I was back at my litle rck in the water.
I stomped through some bushes.  I peaked over the next row of bushes, and saw Tobias, riping and tearing into my rat flesh.
He took a few more bites and took off.
I stepped through the bushes and looked down at my old body. There it sat, dead and rotting.
I bent down and picked it up.  I scooped a little hole in the ground with my fingers, and put it in there.
I stood up and looked at the sky above.  Tobias was stll in my range of site.  I cancentrated and began to morph.

Chapter Three

The first change was my mouth.  It spouted out, leaving my teeth behind.  Then they disappeared.  My arms and
fingers melted and becam wings.  My toes melted together to become rippping talons.
Feathers began to appear on mys kin and morphing suit.  They sprouted out all ove my body.  Gold wing fluffed and covered me.
Flesh was ripped from my legs.  My bone was exposed, but was quickly covered in scales.
I was nearly done.  I was a five and a half foot golden eagle.
Before I was finished shrinking, I took off and flew toward Tobias.  He was a hundred yards away.  If I got high enough, I could swwop down and kill him liked he killed me.
Only he couldn't come back to life.
I managed to get high enough.  I tucked in my wings and dove straight for his neck.
I was closing in fast.  Seventy-five yards. Fifty yards.
Twenty-five.  Fifteen.  Ten, nine, eight, seven-I flared my wings.
My talons connected with his back.  < Boo, > I said as my talons searched for his heart.
 < Huh?  What the-David? >
< That's right, sunshine.  Time for a little storm. >
I tightned my grip then dropped him like a rock into the raging sea. One down, five to go.
I hopped onto another thermal and flew toward the barn.

Chapter Four

I flew in the open hayloft and ducked behind a row of cages.  I concentrated on demorphing.
My feet melted and became smooth.  Talons were sucked in and five little pink toes popped out.
My human body slowly emerged.  Soon, I was human.
 Suddenly, there were voices.
 "Where's Ax?" Marco asked.
"He's watching Friends again," Cassie answered.
Stupid!  I totally forgot it was a Saturday!
"I was thinking about heading down to the beach," Marco said.  "You'll be there, won't you Rachel."
I looked over the cages and saw her make a face of disgust.  "Dream on, dream boy."
 "Don't worry, I will."
Everyone laughed.  I had to fight the urge to run over there with the shovel next to me and knock their heads off.
Instead, I began to morph a cockroach.  I shrunk rapidly.  Antennae pooped out of my for head, my body
hardened.  Legs popped out of my chest.  Soon, I was a cockroach.
I powered my legs and took off at top cockroach speed.
I headed toward them.  I climbed up a leg covered with animal poop.  It was Cassie's.
< Where am I going to find the blue box? > I thought to myself.
I sat though an hour of conversation about spying on the Sharing and going to the mall to check out babes and a major sale at the Gap.
Finally, they left and I demorphed.
I looked around for thirty minutes and found something blue and glowing.  I reached for it and found it.
I remorphed the golden eagle and carried it out.

Chapter Five

On Monday, around noon, I went to school.  It felt so strange.  I haven't been here since I became a nothlit.
 Kids were everywhere.
I spotted Jake, Marco, Rachel and Cassie sitting at a table.  I stayed away from them.
BAM!!  I fell to the ground.
I looked around, ready to morph lion and chew whoever knocked me down's head off.
I looked up and saw a girl.  her books lay on the ground.
She picked them up and looked at me.
 "Are you new around here?"
 "Uh . . . yeah."
"My name's Alice.  You want to hangout with me and my friends?"
"Sure."  I stood up.  "My name's David."
We walked over to her table.  There was another girl and two boys sitting there.
"Hi, I'm David," I said again, liking the sound of my voice.
One started to say something.  "I'm Mark, this is Gary, and that is Courtney.
Mark had dark black hair.  He was a little taller than me, but I could take him on easily.
Gary was shorter than Mark, but still taller than me.  He had light brown hair.  He was buffer than me.  I probably
couldn't take him and Mark on together.
Courtney and Alice were both smaller than me. Alicey had golden hair and was pale.  Courtney had pale skin and black hair.
 "Sit down," Gary said.
I sat down and we all talked.
Something so normal felt so strange.

Chapter Six

We all planned to meet at the beach after school.
"Hi," Alice said as her, Courtney, Gary, and Mark walked over to me.
I was in my morphing suit and holding the blue box.
 "What's that?" Courtney asked.
"This is gonna change your life," I answered.
I very carefull explained about the Yeerks.  I explained about the Sharing, Visser Three and about my parents.
"Yeah, right," Gary said with an abnoxious smirk.
 "There's more."
I explained about the Animorphs.  Who they are, what they look like, what they did to me.
 "You're a maniac," Mark said.
The four of them started to leave.
"Wait," I shouted in a voice that was no longer my own.
They turned to look at me, morphing into a lion.
"Whoa," Courtney said, scared, but unable to move.
Whan I finished morphing, I said, < You can do this to if you help me get back my parents and kill the Animorphs. >
"If the Animorphs are fighting the Yeerks, why would we want to kill them?" Gary asked the lion that was now me.
< Because, if they defeat the Yeerks, they want to take over the world, > I lied.  They wouldn't know the diffrence.  You have to help me get both of them.  If not . . . >  I let it hang as I out strecthed my claw.
"You don't have to threaten us," Mark said. "This is wild.  I'm in."
 "Me too," said Alice.
 "Yeah," Mark agreed.
Courtney looked the other way and said, "I'm in too."
I demorphed and held out the box.
I had no idea how to work it, but I did.
They pressed their hands on it and energy flew from the box into them.
"Okay," I said, getting down to business. "First we head to Cassie's barn to acquire some birds.  Then we'll fly to the Gardens and get some firepower."
"Sounds like a plan," Mark said.

Chapter Seven

We were able to sneak inside Cassie's barn. luckily, she was somewhere else.
"Who's first?" I asked and open a cage with a hawk on it.  It's little clipboard said it was a kestrel.
"I'll do it," Gary said.  He touched it on it's head and concentrated.
The kestrel fell into a trance.  He let go and backed away.  I closed the cage and opened a new one.  This was a goshawk.
 Mark acquired this one.
Alice acquired a marsh hawk and Courtney acquired a Cooper's hawk.
We began to morph.  It wasn't pretty either.
They started to scream, but I'd prepared.  I was already a golden eagle and sat on each of their head and threatened to kill them if they wouldn't shut up.
We finished morphing and flew to the Gardens.
 < Woo-hah!!! >
 < WowowowowowowWOO! >
 < Yee-hah, yee-hah! >
 < Alrighty then!  Woohoo! >
They were liked that the whole way.
We finally reached the Gardens.  It was dark and no one was in the zoo area.
The first out door pen below us had four or five cheetahs in it.
< Now that's what I'm talking about, > Mark said with glee.
He spiraled down and demorphed.  He slowly crept toward the cheetah and pressed his hand on it.
< Cool, > Courtney said softly.
< Way cool, > Gary agreed.
He remorphed and flew up to us.
We headed to the inside pens.  The first one had a leopard in it.
Gary snuck around back to acquire us.  It was busy eatng, so he didn't have a problem.
The rest of us were demorphed when he came back out.
"Now that was awesome," he said, still high on the adrenaline that was pumping through his veins.
We walked around back until we found a door we liked.  Inside was a black panther sleeping.
Courtney walked in and stroked it's stomach.  It turned its head to look, but turned it around as the acquiring
trance slowly took affect.
She walked back out and went into the door next to it.
 Inside was a mountain lion.
"I'll take this one," Alice said.  She walked toward the cougar who was very hungry.

Chapter Eight

The puma, or cougar, or whatever you want to call it, leaped.
I was in midmorph when it landed on Alice.
She let out a scream of terror.
< Touch it, >  I yelled to her, still not finished morphing.
She stuck out her hand and touched it's nose.It went in the acquiring stance.
She stood up and began to run.
 The cougar leaped!  I leaped!
I knocked it down on it's black.  I showed it my teeth.
It stood and walked away.  I walked out and started demorphing.
"Cool," Mark said as I finished.  "We get to do that too?  Sweet!"
We walked out to the outer pens and morphed into our raptor morphs.
Why had I saved her?  because I liked her?  No. because she was moe useful if she was alive.
We flew back to Cassie's barn.  They weren't in there.  We flew toward the meadow where Tobias used to live.
There they were.  Ax in his Andalite body, Jake and Cassie in wolf morph, Marco in owl morph, and that witch rachel in her human body.
< Go to the forest a hundred yards away, > I instructed.  < They'll be able to hear you, so be quiet.  Morph your battle morphs.  Quietly walk up to them.  When I give the signal, attack. >
< Yes sir, sergeant, sir, > Gary said.
 We landed and demorphed.
We caught or breath and morphed into our battle morphs.
Luckily, we had bought some morphing suits and they managed to be able to morph them on their first try.
 I hadn't been so lucky.
When they had finished morphing, they seemed to have no problem controlling the morph.
 < Everyone ready? > I asked.
 < Yep, > Mark said.  < Let's go boogie! >
< What are you, > Courtney asked, < some disco moron? >
 < Yep! >
 We crept through the night.
Courtney was able to hide in the shadows.  So was Gary.  The rest of us had a tougher time, but we manged to hide.
 "I can't believe he's missing," Rachel said.
There was a pause then she said, "He is not dead.  He did not get eaten!"
There was another pause.  "Marco Shut up!!" Pause.  "I'll morph wolf and help look.  You know, you could have told me sooner."
She started to morph.  Before she was halfway, I leaped.

Chapter Nine

Someone must have warned her, because she turned around.
"No way," she shreiked in a nonhuman voice.
She dodged right and started demorphing.
She was human again, and started morphing to grizzly.
Cassie and Ax tried to attack me, but were intersepted by Gary and Alice.
 "RRRRROOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!"
I turned around and saw Jake in tiger morph leap for me.
I leaped for him and we clashed.  Titans of equal strength fighting for our lives.
Soon, a lumbeing Gorilla came out.
 Courtney and Mark quickly struck.
 We were fighting, equally strong.
Rachel against Courtney, Ax against Gary, Alice against Cassie, Mark against Marco, and me against Jake.
There was a roar of pain.  I turned to look and saw Courtney, battered and bloody by Rachel.
< Nooooooooooo! > Gary roared.  Him, Alice, and Mark backed from their opponents to help Courtney.
I didn't budge.  I turned to late and was hit by Jake's slashing paw. I hit him back, again and again.
I could now hear Rachel's bellows as she was being ripped apart.
Jake withdrew to help her.  I looked around for a victim.  Cassie was nearly passed out, struggling to crawl and help her best friend.
Ax has with Jake helping Rachel.  Marco was sitting on the ground, looking at his ripped open stomach.
 They were loosing.  They'll die.
Suddenly, there was a noise in the bushes.  I turned and saw a Hork-Bajir run to help the fallen grizzly.
< Don't worry guys.  The calvary has come. >
Tobias!  he had survived.  I ran to cut him off, but he slashed me.
Marco and Cassie had joined their friends in the battle, fresh with remorphed bodies.
The tide had turned.  We were now loosing.

Chapter Ten

It was slaughter.  I had leaped between Tobias, flashing his razor sharp blades, and Courtney, lying unconscious on the ground, slowly demorphing.
< We gotta get out of here, > Mark yelled above the bloody roars.
< I'm gone, > Gary said as he strolled his leopard body out of the killing.  Alice was behind heim.  So was Mark.
Courtney finished demorping and was laying unconscioiuss on the ground.  I picked her up and left.  We were demorphed as we walked out of the woods. Courtney had just woke up.
"Well, there goes our secrecy," Gary said.
"They know who I am," Courtney yelled, hysterically.  "They're gonna get me tomorrow and kill me!  I don't wanna die! Your insane!"
Alice, who hasn't spoken up much since she got her new power said, "It's okay.  We'll watch your back."
She looked scornfully at me when she said the last part.
They went to their homes.  I realized I no longer had a home.  I went to the one that was  my old home before I knew who the Yeerks were.
 It was still messed up.
I layed down on my couch and curled up, wishing I had a blanket.
I had fallen asleep, only to wake up in a dark different world.
There, in front of me, was Crayak.
"Remember, David," he said in a low, silky voice.  "Remember . . ."
He had sent me back to the real world.  I once again fell asleep, to dream a familiar nightmare: being trapped as a rat.
