Chapter 1: 15-year-old Rachel
June 17th, 1999
It was a battle. And we were
winning.
I had to keep myself from
cheering as I ripped the throat out of a Hork-Bajir.
Then, suddenly, everything
stopped.
Everything. All of the yeerks
stopped. It was just us 6. < What the?? > Jake asked, and began to demorph.
So did Cassie and Marco. So did I. The wierd thing was, I didn’t mean to.
Suddenly, when I was fully demorphed, I saw a bright light, and then
I was knocked out.
Chapter 2: 15-year-old Tobias
June 17th, 2023
I was knocked out. When I woke
up, I was lying on a forest floor, next to Rachel.
The wierd thing was, it wasn’t
our forest. I had no clue where we were.
Suddenly, I releized Rachel
and I were alone. None of the others were here. Just us.
Rachel woke up beside me.
“Where the...where are we?” She asked, bewildered.
< I don’t know, > I answered.
Suddenly, I heard a sound!
Someone was comming toward us. < Rachel! > I hissed. < Someones
comming! > And I flew up to the branch
of a tree.
Rachel stood up just as an
African-American guy with a backpack slung over his shoulders came into
a distance where he could see her. The guy looked tall. And I mean tall.
He looked around 7 feet tall. And I’m NOT kidding. He had a shaved head,
and looked very muscular. But besides the fact that he looked like he could
pound me in my human morph 6 feet under, he actually didn’t seem that threatening.
In fact, I almost felt that I knew him from somewhere.
< Hey, > I joked. <
Why don’t you ask him where we are and for directions out of here? >
“Hi, I’m Rachel,” Rachel
said, smiling her wonderful smile at the guy. “We’re...I mean I’m a little
lost. Could you tell me where I am and how to get out of here?”
The guy looked at her like
he couldn’t believe he was talking to her. After a moment, he said, “I’m
Toby. And you’re in the woodsy area in between the elementary school track.”
He smiled. “Walk in any direction about 20
feet, and you should be out of here.”
“Boy, do I feel stupid. Anyway,
thanks,” Rachel said to the guy.
Chapter 3: Young Ax
(Es-squese me? How am I supposed
to know his age?)
Suddenly, I found myself on blade
ship with Marco. I looked around, and noticed a human woman in randomite
box. She had her arms chained to the walls, and two strong Hork-Bajir were
guarding her cage. Luckily, they had their backs to us.
< Marco, > I said.
< I believe those Hork-Bajir are infected by the yeerks. I would highly
advise morphing. >
He nodded, and began to morph
a gorrilla. < You know...> Marco began. < Why don’t we save that
woman? I’m getting the strongest urge to. >
I nodded. Then, I leaped
foward into the view of the Hork-Bajir, and began to attack. Marco followed.
It was not a long battle, I guess the yeerks didn’t expect anyone to come
into this room.
< Open the cage, > I said
to the box, and it opened. I began to try to break the locks, but it didn’t
work. I heard a jingling sound, and turned around. Marco was dangling some
keys he took off the Hork-Bajir.
< Try these, > He said,
and unlocked the bars.
The woman fell to the floor.
Marco scooped her up. After a few seconds, she spoke. “Shey on’t now m
fee, ut as son as ya steep ut o har, ba ‘pared ta feet,” She said slowly.
< What? > I asked Marco.
< I think she said ‘They
don’t know I’m free, but as soon as you step out of here, be prepared to
fight’, > Marco replied.
We burst out of that room,
Marco holding the woman.
Chapter 4: 15-year-old Jake
Cassie and I found ourselves
by the side of a road. It was a foresty side road, not like a highway.
I looked around, and saw no one, except a car off in the distance.
“Where are we? And where
are the others?(A/N:You thought nobody was gonna ask that question, didn’t
you?)” Cassie asked.
“I don’t know,” I replied.
“Lets morph, and see where we are.”
Cassie nodded. “Lets wait
for that car comming toward us to pass,” She asnwered, and looked at the
car driving toward us.
The car was just past us,
when suddenly, it stopped, and drove towards us in reverse. It stopped
again, and a man got out of the car. He ran towards us. “Get into the car!”
He yelled.
“Run!” I said to Cassie,
and we took off, running away from the man. I’m fast, but this guy chasing
us was older, and it really good shape. Plus, before we ran, I noticed
he was wearing a military uniform. So he caught up to us pretty quick.
He grabbed us by the shoulders.
I tried to struggle.
“Listen,” He said to us.
“I’m not gonna hurt you. But there are others who will. Get into my car.
You’ll be safe.”
“Jake,” Cassie said softly,
so the guy could hear us. “I think we can trust him.”
“Fine,” I agreed.
He lead us to his car. We
got in just as the sunscreen song ended. You know, that song with the spech
that they play on the radio almost every day? That didn’t stike me as odd,
until the song ended, and one of those radio commerials began to play.
“You’re listening to Oldies
103,” The radio played.
“Oldies?” Cassie asked.
The guy pulled over. “I don’t
know what effect this will have, but you’re not in the time you think you’re
in. I don’t know what date it’s supposed to be for you, but it’s June 17th,
2023. And I’m Tobias.”
Chapter 5: Toby
OK, no way I was just talking
to a younger version of Aunt Rachel. No way.
You’re probably really
confused by now, so let me tell you who I am.
I’m Toby. It’s 2023,
and I’m the son of two of the famous animorphs, Cassie and Jake. My parents,
along with my friend Emil’s dad, Marco, and an alien they called Ax, defeated
the yeerks, an alien species that had been
trying to invade Earth ever since the
1990’s. After they defeated the yeerks, the Andalites came, and the Humans
and Andalites formed an alliance. My parents and Emil’s dad all are very
high in rank. They spend most of their time in a ship off in space fighting
the yeerks, who even though they were defeated on Earth, still were trying
to invade other worlds.
Back before I was born, they
had two other members in their group, named Rachel and Tobias. They were
married (Mom and Dad were married at that point in time too), and had a
two year old daughter named Raven. Unfortunatally, Rachel was captured
by the yeerks nearly 16 years ago, and Tobias dissappeared shortly after
her capture. Everyone thinks he killed himself and Raven. I’m sure if he
had known that she was a yeerk, he wouldn’t have done that, but Mom,
Dad, Marco, Ax and Uncle Tobias all thought she was dead.
If you couldn’t guess, I
was named for Uncle Tobias (technically, he’s my cousin by marrage, but
Uncle sounds better).Actually, my real name is Tobias. But I kinda felt
like I was talking something away from him. So did
my twin sister, Raye(Her real name is
Rachel).
So seeing my supposedly captured
Aunt Rachel as a 15-year-old is kinda wierd. Even if you ignore the fact
that she’s under control of a high-ranking yeerk visser, she’s 40. Not
15.
I shook my head, and walked
into my house.
“Erek!” I yelled. “I’m home!”
Erek is of an android race called the Chee my parent knew when they were
teens. Since Chee can’t fight, he never accompanies my parent in space.
But he does watch after Raye, Emil and Me
when they’re gone.
A human voice called back,
“Where is Raye and Emil?”
The Chee have chosen to stay
secret. No one even knows they exist.
“Emil has detention,” As
usual, I smiled to myself, “And Raye’s at an emergency Girls Volleyball
team practice,” I yelled.
I really had nothing better
to do, so I went upstairs to check my e-mail.
Chapter 6: 15-year-old Rachel
Tobias and I were at a mall bookstore.
Since we didn’t know where we were, I suggested that we go to the mall.
After a huge amount of persuasion, I won. (Sheesh, guys!) You wanna know
something wierd? We relized that I had clothes on. Like, normal clothes.
Not my morphing outfit. And when Tobias morphed human, he had normal clothes
on too. But when he tried to demorph in them, they fell off. Like they
normally would.
Anyway, we were in the mall
bookstore.Suddenly, something caught my eye. “Tobias, come here!” I yelled
to him. He walked over.
“Isn’t this the guy we saw
in the woods?” I asked Tobias.
“Yep. I think. It’s hard
to tell when I’m half blind,” He replied. We were looking at one of those
little books about famous people. It had a picture of him on the cover,
and his name, Toby _______.
I looked at the cover again.
“Wait...” I said. “That’s Jake’s last name. And Jake has a pretty unusual
last name,” I mused.
Tobias looked back at the
book shelf. He pulled out another book. It was the same size, but it had
a picture of a girl with brown hair(who by the way, looked nothing like
this Toby guy), and it said ‘Raye _______’.
“Jake’s last name again,”
Tobias muttered.
I noticed something else.
I pulled out one more book, the same size as the others, only it had a
picture of a hispanic kid, and it read ‘Emil ________’.
“OK, that’s Marco’s last
name.” Tobias said. “This is strange.”
“If you kids are that interested
in book about the animorphs, we have a whole section back there,” A man
behind the counter said.
“The what?” I asked, hardly
believing my ears.
The man laughed. “The animorphs.
The ones who kicked butt on the yeerks and saved Earth from the yeerks.
Have you two ben living in a cave for all of your life?”
I smiled. “Where is the section?”
I asked.
“Walk down that row, and
it's the first section to the right," He told us.
"Thanks," Tobias said, and
we walked to the section.
Right in the middle of this
big place was a large display, containing one book. The display said 'Best
Seller'. I picked up a book from the display. The title of the book was
'Take These Broken Wings'. I looked at a little
caption below the title, and I nearly
fainted. 'The Life, Love, and Death of Rachel and Tobias ______'.
