A Cassie poem about when Jake died in MM#3

Neverland

By Articuna16

Your leave of absence
will never be accepted
nor will I ever except the words
that never whispered
your sweet but quick goodbye.

Never,
have whispered so
many tormented souls.
And never you,
did I ever say, could fly
so far away from me.

But the hours passed so
fast, as you floated beneath
somewhere I could not follow.
And oh, I tried.
I tried to shield your soul from him.

Promised in the honest grave
to keep you from falling into his hands.
But instead beyond my weak control,
you slipped into his bitter dark.

And so long have I begged
my mind to be buried away with you.
To be a sleep forever in your arms,
in peace, as I have so longed wished.

For I cried to the world when I
could not see your face,
as the notion of your death
was all too much to take.

Your breathe and strength
had faded somehow
into another place.

Causing me to think this wretched world
is all but make believe.
For none of us will ever truly
walk as youth again.

With a cursed power we have
grasped the world from tilting over
and let our souls fall to the
ground and break.

Spilling the innocence
within the eyes of a child,
in our war for the scared
gift named freedom,
which has now condemned you.

But please,
do not forgive
and I will not forget your
slowly drifting smile.
But maybe dream away,
into a hopeful neverland.
