My loving dog, though never sour
You bark through every daylight hour
Every time I let you out
You want back in, or thereabout
We force you to swallow all those pills
To keep you healthy, and far from ill
You always forget what you ate
And insist upon food that came from my plate
Sometimes we think you are a dunce
You seem to forget the dangers of porcupines and skunks
My loving dog, my pal, my friend
You are a pet heaven did send
