In the year 1999, high above Macross Island in the South Pacific, a phenominal event occurred in the skies which altered the course of human history!!
Robotech takes place on Earth in the year 1999, World War 3 has just ended and peace is being established when a diserted alien ship comes out of hyperspace and enters the Earths atmosphere causing many unnatural events to occur.

The ship crashed landed on a small island in the Pacific called Macross Island. Over the years Earth people have built a city around the giant alien vessel called Macross City ,while scientists and technitians have repaired the giant alien ship and named it the Super Dimentional Fortress-1 or the SDF-1.

On the day of the ships first flight another alien vessel came out of a hyperspace fold caussing the same unnatural events as the SDF-1 did before it enterd earthes armosphere, but this time the ship is not diserted but is transporting and alien race called the Zentraedi who are a super strong alien race that look like 50 foot humans. The Zentraedi have came for the giant robotech vessel called the SDF-1
