Mostly Made up Planets
It appears that this page has been getting some moderate attention somehow. That's great, but it's more than I'd expected (that is, none). Although it's really not a big deal I suppose I can go back to adding and/or updating planets. When I do, maybe I'll get more traffic...
Or maybe not. I really don't even know what people want to see. If you have any feedback or anything don't be afraid to email me or sign my guestbook.

A few years ago I was looking for a Digital Elevation Map of Earth that represented the topographical range using shades of gray. Lo and behold, I couldn't find it. I found numerous maps that used hue to do so and in general they also used shading to indicate sharp contrasts in height, and I finally figured out a way to convert using filters. See, Paint Shop Pro has a "split image" feature, and when you split using Hue, Saturation, and Lightness factors, the hue image of one of these topographical maps eliminates lightness use of contrast and becomes a shades-of-gray DEM Map.
Here's one of the Earth. This was much easier than running it through a filter that takes out brightness variability and going through the hue spectrum and the brightness spectrum replacing one shade of gray for a shade of red or orange, etc. The picture in the link is 2000x1000 pixels wide, if you'd like a larger one (4095x2048) I can email it to you by request. If you'd like a 10797x5400 then you're a freak! Now enjoy planets that I've made up:

My thanks to Jasc Software and Adobe for allowing me to use their wonderful drawing programs (Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop) to draw my maps. And thanks to Space.com for allowing me to put the maps on spheres with the great program Starry Nights Pro.
